Yes, you are an asshole for doing this but it doesn't mean you're the only one. I can't say I haven't done that at one point or another.

I have spoke to a person who I did not know and that they were friends of a Person who I wanted to know, We spoke about Sports and then I moved on with my life.

I pre-empt any problems by not remembering anyone's name the first time I meet them. That way if they are someone I end up getting along with I catch the name, the second time through.

I do the same....but I dont remember the third or fourth times!! I slept with someone for two days and crashed at her place and didnt know her name! Its why god invented Adjectives!
