I think Dave owes everything to Calvert AKA "Larry"

Holy shit, I must've had a moment of clairvoyance or something... I was JUST thinking about this guy like 2 days ago and wondering whatever happened to him.
I remembered him from the 1-800 COLLECT commercials in the mid 90's. How weird... That totally sucks that he's gone.

I grew up with this guy and his insane humor on the Letterman show. A damn shame...

About 10 years ago (or more) on one of Letterman's Prime Time specials he opened the show with the same death graphic (photo with birth and death years). He announced that Calvert was dead, and then of course when the place went silent...our came Larry Bud Melman - alive and well.

He was hilarious!

I remember one time Letterman sent him on some kind of trip to South America in a motor home. Every night Letterman would call him and Larry would tell Dave to stop bothering him on his vacation and hang up. I'm still not sure if he was joking or just crazy.
