I didn't see it and this is the first I am hearing of it, but WOW ... so interesting. I would love to know how that came to pass. Was Sandler supposed to be the guest and just stepped in to host? Or is he going to be the back up when he's available?

yes, it is true. i seen clips of it this morning on Ch. 7 and i looked good and at ease. It came natural to him.

Maybe a nice replacement if Dave ever retired.

I actually caught parts of it last night, and I thought it was bad. I usually like Adam Sandler, but he seemed uncomfortable to me. My wife was with me, and she said it really makes you appreciate Letterman even more. I understand it would be really hard to come in and do a guest host like this, but he seemed nervous and not that funny. But hey, it is better than I could do, so who am I to say anything bad I guess.

Also, his new movie looks awful!

I saw the show--he was funny but a crummy interviewer. He kept looking at
his notes and saying "umm" and "ahhh" a lot. But it was obviously really
spur of the moment and he did good in that respect. He had his bulldog sit
in the second chair all night and the dog was cute as shit! I was hoping
Bulldogcakes was watching.

Hmmm...Letterman gets "sick" and doesn't do his show last night. Ron & Fez didn't do their show last night. Both are CBS shows. Both were supposed to have Adam Sandler as a guest. Both have their contracts come up at the end of March. Both have been seen around town with ABC executives.

I came in late so I didn't see the monologue. It was normal Adam Sandler, sorta uncomfortable and weird. Not bad though, given the experience he could do a lot with it though. I think it would be a downgrade from a movie star to talk show host though.

Sandler's Bulldog drolled all over the chair....

by the way....I don't think anyone would consider Sandler a good actor......but

he took a very difficult part and completely owned it....his character is full of sadness, anger, denial, confusion, numbness....there are quite a few scenes in which i don't think another actor alive could have done a better job....He has every reason to push this movie....he should be very proud

I'm absolutely not a Sandler fan....but it's a great part....and he brings a Great deal of intensity and commitment to the part....I think all and all, I'm more shocked at the transition than I was when Robin Williams and Jim Carrey made their moves into drama

He was pretty good in Punch Drunk Love.

Sandler was serious in "Punch Drunk Love" and I thought he was great in that
movie. I like him better as a serious actor.

I never saw Punch Drunk Love because I thought it was the typical Sandler movie.

he did a good job on the show... big shoes to fill and though he was nervous, he got through it. your movies have sucked more with each one that comes out, but this time, good for you, budday.

PT Anderson is a great director but I think Punch Drunk Love was a bit of a doodle from him...where he took the Sandler persona and played games with it.......but I never really believed this was a real person......

The character in Reign Over Me is very real and believeable....maybe one of the better depictions of how complicated mental illness can get.....Though the movie does dip a little into feel good territory by the end
