I think you make that judgment based on their service, and it depends your place as well. I currently live in a pre-war 4 story walkup apartment where the stairway is 90 degrees all year round. When I had my dishwasher delivered I tipped more than I normally would since A) I live in the worst place for delivery, and B) They did a great job, cleaned up great, and never complained once about the walkup / heat. I went $20 per guy. Whenever I know something is getting delivered I try and keep a lot of different bills in my wallet and make a judgment call then and there.

I wouldn't give a tip to just one guy, hoping he would divy it up. You either have to give each, or do something else, like, buy them lunch or something. I used to do home improvement, and sometimes the people would make me lunch and I thought it was a pretty nice thing to do. My brother comes home with all types of shit in tips. One day he came home with a case of shampoo and conditioner. That's what the customer sold, so that's what he gave him. Pretty funny.

I always base it on how hard the job is, what the weather is like, whether or not I live in an apartment and how many flights of stairs, etc., etc.. I'm on the second floor of my new place and I've been tipping pretty much anyone bringing stuff up at least $10 each and definitely $20 each if they're installing. Offering drinks is a must, too. Of course, if they did a shitty jub they'd get less, but I've lucked out and had nothing but pros helping me deal with this move. And yeah, give each tip to each guy seperately. Giving everything to someone who says they're in charge is no guarentee of the money getting to anyone else.

$0.

They get paid for their job and you are most likely paying delivery charges.

Just say "Have a nice day." and show them the door.

The most I have ever tipped were 2 cans of Shop Rite brand coke after paying almost $100 to get some couches delivered. It's their jobs, why do they need extra cash from my pocket for doing what I have already paid for?

It most deff depends on the situation and the attitude of the delivery guys... if they are pro's and take care of business then $10+ Drink and bathroom. If they are punks expecting something tracking dirt and shit in the house... nadda.

If it's a group like 3-5 people doing an install... and I don't know who's in charge... I'll wait until the job is done and when they are ready to leave I'll give the guy who did the most work $10 per guy and say "Here you guys get some lunch or a beer." This way everyone knows that I gave something and they can divide it up among themselves.

What a bunch of Non Tippin MF'ers. You Obviously tip something. The guys not tippin if you had to bring a washer/dryer, fridge, 50 in TV up to a 4 story walk up and got nothing but a glass of water youd wish death on the people.

I worked in circuit city and If someone asked I would tell them to give the guys $5 bucks an appliance unless the delivery was difficult. Then hit them off some more. If a install is necessary you can add on from there. I gave the guy who helped me load my computer in my car $5 just for helpin.

At least give them enough to buy a 40oz.

The major difference here is delivery/installer guys dont get paid subhuman wages to do their jobs. They make double minimum wage or much more in most cases. Where as a waiter gets paid $2 an hour because they live off the tips.

I think the argument could be made but still, I ALWAYS TIP everyone who does anything I could have possibly done myself. This includes but not limited to...

Valet's

Bartender's

Massage "Therapist"

Mailman

Delivery guys

My tailor

etc etc.

Delivery guys are not supposed to accept tips, that is usually a company policy. They are being rewarded by the customer for doing what they are paid to do. That being said. If the guys go out of their way to install or do things more than just delivery than yes, a tip could follow. I really only tip the garbage men, because they take shit I'm not supposed to put out.
