I ordered a novel from Amazon.com that was required reading for my English class on Friday and paid the extra fee to have it delivered on Monday. When I came home minutes ago, I asked my mother if it had arrived and she didn't even know what I was talking about. It took about a tenth of a second to figure out that I'd been duped. So, I got onto Amazon's customer service line and was routed to some gentleman that was obviously form Pakistan or India. Anyway, I explained my situation and he pulled up the tracking status of my package and told me that the arrival date and been pushed to March 13, a day after I was supposed to receive my parcel. He then offered to give me a 50% refund since 2-Day delivery would cost the same as if I had paid half the price I originally shelled out for Next Day delivery. He asked me if I would accept this and in a strong affirmative tone I told him that 1) I paid for a service that I did not get, 2) I needed the book today due to the assignments given to me by my Professor, 3) No one contacted me about the new date, meaning that if I had called tomorrow complaining that I had gotten it a day late, I'd be shit out of luck since I already received the package. I then wrapped it up by saying that I did not find this to be acceptable, but if there is nothing he nor any supervisor can do, then I'd have to accept it. He apologized and told me that he would try to get me a refund for more money or the entire cost of shipping. About 30 seconds roll by and he comes back on the line telling me that he spoke to his supervisor and that I will receive a refund for the entire price of shipping. Fuck, yea!

See what happens when you articulate yourself and refrain from yelling? I swear, I talked circles around a Verizon representative that knew nothing about computers when he tried to tell me that the reason I had began to receive 56k-like speeds was due to my Anti-Virus software. Bullshit! I kept calling Verizon and talking way above the heads of their idiotic customer service reps until they transfered me to a new router in the central office that was not as congested as the one I was currently on, and switched my data path to Fast Path so my pings would be really low for online gaming and web browsing.

I swear, I really got to start taping my conversations with these people. I remember one of the Verizon reps telling me that she'd put in the request for Fast Path, but there is no chance that I will get it. I wish I could get a direct line to her so I can tell her that I did. Crown me!

But it will be fast as hell so they can't quite make out what I just said.

I remember when I was in school, and if I needed a book for a class, I would go to the bookstore, and if they didn't have it, I would go to another bookstore. Sometimes, I would contact another bookstore from a telephone that plugged into a wall in order to locate a copy. I never got to dress down anyone in Bangalore.

*Update*

It is 8:42 pm and the UPS guy JUST came. I suspect someone screamed at him for slacking off and made him deliver my book since there are NO LATE UPS DELIVERIES IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD, EVER. I called Amazon and informed them of this and the girl said that I can still have my refund. Fucking, A!

I ordered a gift from Godiva's website months ago and had it sent overnight. She didn't receive it the next day, so I called up to complain. Not only did they refund my full shipping, they sent me another box of chocolates to me to make up for it.

If all you got back was shipping, you're losing to me and cupcakelove. I think we're knocking you down to court jester.
