The first song that made me take an interest in music was "El Paso" by Marty Robbins, but the first thing I really remember kicking my ass was the Master Of Puppets album.

The first song I can remember really liking and listening to was The Stranger by Billy Joel. I must have been 4 or 5. That song really got my imagination going.

Earliest memories were listening to my parents limited rock collection: Simon & Garfunkel "Bookends", "The Graduate" soundtrack (this maybe more folk, but it rocked), and of course the Beatles. Then there was Billy Joel's "Glass Houses".

Then there was a shift and I was listening to stuff like ACDC and Rush. After that my tastes broadened pretty dramatically.

First music that really turned me on would be early Elvis and the whole Memphis scene.

First 45s I bought were "Dirty Water" by the Standells and that hit by the Seeds - I'm drawing a blank here, but the B-side was "With A Girl Like You."

They were 88 cents apiece at Rexall on the thin rack that spun around.

When I was about five, I heard "Rhinestone Cowboy" on the radio. I liked the song so much that I started listening to the radio all the time so I could hear it again. That got me into music for the first time.

In my mid-twenties I heard "Sam Stone" by John Prine. I couldn't believe that such a great singer/songwriter had been around my whole life, and I had never heard of him. That led me to seek out other "non-mainstream" music, whether it be folk, jazz, punk, whatever. This, by the way, eventually led me to XM and subsequently to Ron and Fez. Hiya Buddays.

I think the first song that grabbed me when I was like 4 or 5 was "In The Mood" by Glen Miller. Great swing era tune. Then The Beatles "Help". The first album that really, REALLY hooked me..... when I was 12, I was at a friends house and he said his mom was going to see this band at Shea called The WHO. He put on "The Kids Are Alright" soundtrack.

THAT WAS IT!!!!!

To this day, it is still one of my all-time fave albums. "Young Man Blues" has so much power and anger. Still hum it when I'm havin' a bad day and it's one of my ring tones! Ironic, since it's a cover tune. Since that day in '82, the floodgates opened and I've been a HUGH fan of music in general with over 1000 CD's and countin' !!
