Technically I have 9 games systems. But they are all on one console courtesy of my modded XBox. I have on that asides from XBox games, about 40 games, but also have NES, SNES, Genesis, Atari, Intellivision, Colecovision, Nintendo 64, and a Neo-Geo thing. Plus I also have season 3 of Rescue Me and every episode of Lost this season on there as well. I have to admit I only play like 8 of the Box games, and check out the emulators every so often, especially when bored.

Ok first of all I don't consider any of the Atari, original NES, game cube, Neo Geo, Turbographics 16, or Genesis owners out there to be real gaming systems. Anything that still takes cartridges, in my opinion, is not a gaming system, with the exception of the DS, since they're only software on flash memory.

Second of all, it's not about money. It's the principle. These companies WANT you buy every game system. If they were smart, they'd release a new game system every year and people would still buy it. Hell, Microsoft gets away with it. I'm dyin ova hea.

Marone.

Exactly why I never bought an Xbo original or 360 and probably never will. Microsoft is the biggest offender, so if you're going to make that argument, why did you patronize and give money to the biggest corporate scumbags in the gaming/computer industry? This is the same company that tries to ban programs like Linux and pass legislation making it mandatory as an American citizen to own a copy of Microsoft OS TBA (via getting a 'computer citizenship ID', only validated by Microsuck software) all for the sake of making even more money. Naturally this got shot down, but it's still egregious that they tried at all, and probably will continue to make like-minded attempts in the future. All in the meanwhile, they continue to make sub-standard quality games and programs that usually make computers vomit for the first 3 years they are released.

As far as gaming goes, the Xbox series typically addresses atavistic unthinking male testosterone. Look at the 'I dont got time to bleed' dialogue of Gears of War- typical of an Xbox exclusive storyline. The way it promotes unthinking advocacy of games that are merely pretty with no soul is typical of the kind of shit they produce. (Not that Gears of War sucks, mind you- it's the mentality I have an issue with).

Oh, and if you don't consider the SNES a gaming system in its time, then you are out of your mind. Sure it doesn't have cutting edge flash memory tech or blu-ray/hd-dvd compatability, but the damn thing came out when the VCR was still kicking with life.

Though I do agree it don't stand up to the test o' time.
360 is basically the same price as PS3, but they market it intelligently, and don't pack it all into a bundle at that whopping Neo-Geo pricetag. Add all the peripheral stuff to make the system perform on par with PS3, the hd-dvd add-on, wireless adapter, etc. They deliberately blur the text in games so you can barely read it (see Dead Rising) so you will want to get that hd peripheral. Clever, evil, whatever, it works.

Here's another point I'd like to make.

The difference in graphic quality between XBOX and XBOX 360 and PS2 and PS3 is MARGINAL at best. It really is. Maybe the online integration is a little more transparent, but anyone who says PS3 is leaps and bounds more graphically advanced than PS2 is out of thier mind. All I see are crisper, higher definition graphics. It's like when I upgraded my old ATI Radeon 9600 to a Nvidia GEFORCE 7500. Sure, everything was crisper at higher resolutions, but was it worth the $300? No.

What I look for when I buy a new gaming system is a graphic and game play enhancement the like of NES to WII, something so mindblowingly different and and advanced its worth the money.

Trust me, you're going to see bi-annual releases of gaming systems in the near future, or they're just going to break down and integrate the computer and video game systems into one machine that serves both purposes seamlessly. We're kidding ourselves if we think the PS3 or the XBOX is anything but a computer without a keyboard.

I run NES, Super NES, Sega Genesis, Nintendo 64, PS1, PS2, and PS3. All of them work perfectly fine except the Super Nintendo, it takes some tinkering to get it going. Thinking about buying a 360 cuz my good buddy has one and playing online is awesome. I think he should get a PS3 but he likes the XBox and there just isn't enough games for the PS3 yet, at least in Canada anyway.
