Don't get your hopes up. Be nice, but won't happen.

As the messageboards former Vermont citizen I'll give you the low down. Vermont and New Hampshire are basically turning into Massachusetts/New York North. Alot of the land has been bought by flat landers and the hayseed citizens don't really have much control over what goes on there. Basically both states are being run by carpetbagging retirees or people claiming their roots by owning second houses. Now i'm not really complaining about this because I gained employment while I lived there by building for these folks but I'll assure you that the "activist Vermonter" is an import.

A bit late, don't ya think. This is same deal during the Clinton years. The election is next year. We'll have a new President in less than two. Why can't we just sit back and enjoy the circus. Enough with these "symbolic" statements.

I agree with you. This happens every year. It's a tradition just like suppresing the black population.

Unfortunately for us, Vermont (as well as the greater Metro area) does not represent the rest of the country. And as much as we don't want to believe, there are an overwhelming amount of hayseeds out there. They voted him in, twice. He runs his course. We try again. That's the way it works.

12 years of one side, 8 years of the other, back to 8 of the other. Let's remember, everything is cyclical. Even the climate.

It's a real shame that politicians are so cowardly. Even in the face of tyranny & despotism as exemplified by the Bu$h administration, they wait til his ass is 1 cheek out the door to give it a good swift kick!

And as you know there is a serious lack of balls (or pro-activism), as well as an abundance of complacency on the part of the voters. How beautiful would it be to see a complete overall of the government every few years. But how often do we see names voted in instead of people. Even this year, with all of the negativity towards the Republicans, they only very narrowly lost the majority.

Tyranny and despotism? If the world only had tyrants and despots like George W Bush, the world would be a better place. I don't think you have any idea what it is like to live under a true despot and a true tyrant.

Saturday Night Live can mock our president on national television. Try that under the Ayatollah...or the Saudi Kings...or Kim Jong Il.

Bush may have made some egregious mistakes and overstepped some constitutional boundaries, but I don't think for a second the man is a tyrant or a despot.

And don't give me Iraq. As invasions go, this was a pretty tepid war. People talk about 3000 soldiers dead in Iraq. I'm not diminishing the awfulness of that number, but 60,000 died in Vietnam and 54,000 in the Korean war. You wanna see a real invasion from a real tyrannical administration, watch your television in a couple of years when China finally has it with Taiwan.

We still have a free press in this country. We can still hold our leaders accountable. They are still elected.

Let's keep the rhetoric within the boundaries of reality, please.
