Why do some people feel guilty about spending money? I mean I usually do and I wonder why.

Perhaps you feel that you are not worth spending money on.

i feel guilty because i'm so much in debt and i hardly ever get to go shopping for clothes and things i need, so if i do splurge, i start kicking myself over not putting it towards bills.

My parents grew up during the Depression and when I was growing up in the 70s we always lived hand-to-mouth (one summer we had our electricity cut off b/c we couldn't pay the bill).
Today I make a good living and have money in the bank but I always feel guilt about spending money-- even on necessities! If I go to the supermarket I get mad at myself when the bill is a little higher than I wanted to spend.
