I like 'em all...

"War All the Time"

"Oh Yes"

there are worse things than
being alone
but it often takes decades
to realize this
and most often
when you do
it's too late
and there's nothing worse
than
too late.

I had the pleasure of attending a couple of his "readings" & they were among the most unceremonious & interactive experiences of my life. Bukowski made art live by ignoring the fact that his literature was art and always just plowing thru, no matter what. He doesn't get the credit he deserves in the USA, somehow he was eclipsed by many of the Beats, most notably Burroughs. They absolutely HATED each other for the comparisons made between them, which only really amounted to the fact that they both were more than familiar w/ living the "low life." Bukowski is the master of plain verse literature!!!

I just read 'Post Office'. It was the first of his books that I've read. I remember I was going to post about it in panterA's postal thread, bukowski was nuts. i wish I had heard of him earlier, rather than just the other 'beat' writers
