So I was listening to Audioslave today after I heard there is to be no more audio slave, specifically "i am the highway" on thier self titled album. it occured to me this song is pretty fucking powerful, and perhaps with time, one of those songs people look back on and say "quintessential Chris Cornell", and maybe even, perhaps, a little iconic, becauase, well, Cornell has one of those iconic voices.

So yeah, I would define, in the context of this thread, iconic as a song after 2000 which best represents an iconic voice from a band that formed around or after 2000. Try to keep within that context.

Yes, you might say well what about soundgarden...nope, before 2000. you get the idea.

So I got to thinking, what are other rock songs from 2000 and on that people will look back on as iconic, during an age of rock that i've mentioned before to be rather embarassing?

Some examples

1) Chop Suey or Toxicity, its a fucking tossup - SOAD

2) Toxicity - SOAD

3) Black Parade - My Chemical Romance (perhaps a little too Smashing Pumpkins, but I imagine many MCR fans probably never heard of SP..its just a different generation

4) Bat Country - Avenged (not the best band, but the best song of that band, i think)

5) queens of the stone age - no one knows (lead singer and dave separated at birth?)

go forth
