There's some very good stuff in the decision presented by Chief Justice William Rehnquist in the Larry Flynt v. Jerry Falwell case.

Texas v. Johnson (flagburning)

Smith v. Collin (hate speech... I think that's the name of the case. It's about Nazis marching in Skokie, Ill. The Nazis were represented by a Jewish ACLU lawyer.)

Schenck v. US; Abrams v. US; Gitlow v. NY; Brandenburg v. Ohio... all dealing with things like treason, sedition, and incitement.

Chaplinsky v. NH ("fightin' words")

Miller v. California; Paris Adult Theatre I v. Slaton (pornography)

Those should be some good places for you to start... good luck!

The constitution was written with rights in mind. That was first and foremost. Allowing freedom. And the freedoms should exist up to the point that it interferes with other's freedoms. The old "Shouting fire in a crowded theater" argument.
