View Full Version : idea - are O+A a gateway drug to Ron and Fez

pretty simple way of stating it - do you agree that O and A led you to Ron and Fez, who are the real deal? I'm sure the results will be skewed, but this was more meant to start the phrase going...

I was into the Ron and the Fez before the O and the A.

i had never heard of ron and fez until they started on xm. after listening for several months i finally realized i enjoyed the ron and fez show much more than o&a. i still love o&a but the buddays have the greatest show in the world.

Yeah, I discovered O&A first, then happened to stumble on R&F one afternoon. The best day of my life! I still listen to O&A every morning, but the goal is my precious Ron & Fez.

OnA (okay, really O and A in the context of O) is the one thing I dislike about RnF.

Found out about RnF in summer of 2000 listening to the radio late at night during the .com days.

I was into Ron and Fez way before I heard of those other two......I've tried listening to them but they sound like Howard Stern to me....I was with the boys since the .com days!!!!!

It's probably a pretty accurate statement, but you won't see the results here.

Most of the RonFez.net crowd has been with R&F since their first tour of duty in New York (and a special few from the Ron & Ron days).

But if you browse the other boards that are primarily O&A boards (FBA, Wackbag), you'll see that there's a growing community that springboarded from O&A to Ron & Fez. That's changed quite a bit today (well...maybe somewhat.)

In the purest of radio terms, Opie & Anthony should be a gateway to Ron & Fez. By it's very definition that's what a morning radio is meant to do and that's why the radio morning show is so valuable. Wacky morning crews generally make the money because of their ability to be an anchor for their station and to draw the big crowd.

So are they a gateway....for the type of money they make, they better be!

For me it was. I remember O&A giving the Boys the rub when they started at night on Wnew. The promos back then had O&A talking. Then they sat in when Paulo took the enima. The rest is history.

Yea, OnA are are syndicated to so many more markets than Ron and Fez. I first heard OnA back in early 2002, on a CA station that didn't carry Ron and Fez. Then OnA went and got fired, and I missed them so much that I bought XM when they got back on (I'd heard some Ron and Fez when I was back east visiting my parents). Then when Ron and Fez came on....over Johnny, Ron and Fez all the way. I still like OnA, but to me they don't compare to Ron and Fez, no dig on OnA, just what I like.
He shows up at all the events, he talks about how he and his chick are huge fans, he sits in with them every so often...

He even used to put them over when R&F were still on WJFK and O&A were on XM.

And R&F have always done the same back for O&A. and there's been numerous times where lesser hosts might have (and have) sandbagged O&A... After Sex for Sam...Working at WJFK with Don & Mike, who were bitter enemies with O&A for awhile...And when they decided to go to satellite, they could have pulled a Scott Ferrell to try and get in with Sirius.

The moral is that O&A (or at least A) always show loyalty to their friends as does Ron & Fez.

Being from So Fla I listened to Ron & Ron in the morning on Zeta 94 when I was in high school. When I was stationed in Ny i found Ron & Fez on late night but on my drive home i listened to two shock jocks that had got the boot from the city of Boston.

I listened to OnA when i was in CT, and they were on AAF, they moved to NY and I lost track of them, and started listening to Howard when he was syndicated to CT. I wanted Sirius since I heard Howard was going there, and had no idea OnA were on XM. Luckily, someone bought me a MyFi for Christmas, when I opened it, I acted excited, but bummed it wasn't sirius, to my surprise when I called to activate it, they asked me if I wanted to add OnA for an extra 2 bucks, so i did. The next year R&F came to XM, the same time I moved to Fez's hometown. Kinda wacky, kinda long and lame story at the same time.

i originally started out just listening to O and A

and depending on my class schedule id periodically listen to other shows on wnew but i didnt listen much to ron and fez when they were doing the dotcom thing

once they moved to an earlier time slot i listened to them a lot more and even though i still listened to o and a, ron and fez became my new #1, so much so that when o and a got pulled oof air i didnt care as much as when ron fez moved to dc and were no longer on wnew

i got lucky for a while when i moved to tampa and they were on 1010 the buzz but that quickly got killed, now with xm and the online free fm feed im all good

Nope. Not for me. During the WNEW days I got into R&F before I even knew about O&A.

It worked that way for me. When O & A started saying good things about Ron & Fez I left the dial on 102.7 and got hooked pretty quickly.

I can even take this back one more step. I started listening to O & A when Imus started saying good things about them after they had been on WNEW for a few months.

I heard about O & A before I moved to LI from a friend who lived in LI.

The first time I heard R & F was driving back to Nassau County on the weekend from Mastic. It was one of their weekend .com replays.

I got into both separately, since they were both on WJFK but never at the same time. I had XM for over a year before I started listening to O&A again (I didn't pay extra for 202). It took me a few weeks to get into R&F once they came to XM. I really got hooked again when soundboard Fez filled in for real Fez. I miss soundboard Fez, he was the best.

I was into R&f back in the Ron & Ron days. I never heard O&A until the first AFRO show on XM. I've tried listening to them, but they just never grabbed me. My XM doesn't go on until just before noon and then it's off at 3.
