This morning I went into a dunkin donuts that I hadn't been in in about 10 years or so, but it reminded me of the way it used to be there. Does anyone else remember the old old Dunkin Donuts back when it was more like a diner and people could sit a stools around the counter? Now it's more of a stop in an get your coffee place, some of them have tables, but none really have the stools around the counter thing anymore.

Hell yeah! It used to be a huge treat getting Dunkin Donuts when we were kids, and I remember the stools along the counter.

I even remember when the people behind the counter spoke English!

everyone is competing with starbucks now.... it is kinda sad... no place to actually sit and chill without getting the "perky treatment"

I'd like to hear the blowhard's opinion on this. I bet he likes the new dunkin donuts better. Or at least it's a close second to starbucks.

When I was 17 I was barbacking at this place and we'd get out at about 5am and head to DDs. That was always such an awesome way to end a long night shift. And I remember that the waitress loved us because we'd tip her so well.

Last time I was at Dunkin Donuts there was an employee using an actual feather duster to dust the shelves. She was dusting the bottom shelf where there was some counter space where the crumbs fell. She kept dusting it, but the feather duster kept swiping the cookies and muffins on the bottom row.It didn't seem a very hygenic thing to be doing, especially in front of the customers!

I enjoyed the old setup, not that I dislike the new one, but I rarely go there. We used to go to an old school one next to the car wash we frequented so yeah, those images are still pretty clear in my head. The new shit's fine though.

I hope we can all agree that Starbucks sucks. The coffee beans are burnt, and there is a horrible aftertaste. I would rather drink bongwater than Starbucks anyday, it's awful. Now as for Dunkin Donuts, I rate their coffee as one of the best. Growing up, there wasn't any Dunkin Donuts in my neighborhood, or any other fast food chain for that matter. The community council kept out Dunkin Donuts, along with McDonald's, Burger King and the rest. They claimed it would cause problems for the neighborhood, and it would also be a litter problem. They finally gave in during the 80's, but in the process we lost the greatest coffee place in the world: Chock Full O' Nuts! There were shops all over NYC and they had the best coffee, period, along with the greatest donuts. They folded, and that was a great loss. They are however bringing them back, and I hope they are successful. And one observation about Dunkin Donuts: is it me, or are the donuts getting smaller and smaller?

You know what I don't like about DD now? The box a dozen donuts comes in. It's that wide pizza box-type thing. I liked the old boxes that looked like shoeboxes and the donuts were placed on their sides in rows of four. And the donuts do seem smaller now too.

I can't stand Starbucks the coffee is undrinkable plus I hate the pretentiousness of it all. I always go in and ask for a large coffee with milk just to fuck with them. It pisses them off big time.

Them :"Is that a grande sir?"

Me : What the Fuck does that mean and how come you don't put milk in for me?"

Them :I don't like your additude sir

Me: I dont like your dreadooks white boy

Them " Im goint to have ask you to leave

Me: Ill leave when Im damn good and ready

Them: "How about now"

Me " F U"

Them "Have a great day sir"

Back in the day the prevailing wisdom about Dunkin donuts and its coffee was that it was always the best. I remember people said the reason had something to do with how they "superheated" the water that they made the coffee with. Im not sure that this makes any sense but I do remember it.

As far as the donut boxes I asked why they made that switch and it is because people did not like the fact that the donuts lined up side by side would mash up the topping so they lay them all out flat so none are lying against each other.

FYI I have found that by getting a Dunkin card and refilling it with money I ca cut down on the constant tipping since I go there a couple time a day. Save a buck a day. cheap prick that I am

WWRD

Our Dunkin Donuts used to have a Cigarette Machine in it, that's where all us kids would get our smokes before you had to give the person ID to unlock the machine.

I remember sitting at the counter and having a breakfast with my family at the old D+D. The Drunkin Donuts outside of Hofstra University rocks ... right next to the bar ... and directly across the street from Hofstra's main entrance. "Open Late."
