View Full Version : Wii Virtual Console

Has anyone made Virtual Console purchases yet? the library has grown faster than i tought it would. There are plenty of good titles already available. Super Mario 64, Super Mario Brother, Super Mario World, Sonic The Hedghog, The Legend Of Zelda, Zelda: A Link To The Past, Super Castlevania IV, Street Fighter II and Mario Kart 64. Street of Rage and Donkey Kong Country were released today. (New games are released every Monday) They still have a lot of ground to cover too. No RPGs have been released yet and the Genesis library in particular has tons of hits still unreleased.

So what have you bought, if anything? I've purchased Super Castlevania IV, Bonk's Adventure, Street Fighter II and Toe Jam & Earl.

it's not all that great. rampage is good. rayman is good but hard. zelda is good but to long and to hard. and i hate games that i suck at. but it was worth 250, if it were anymore i probably wouldn't have bought it.

if you are looking at systems to buy. just grab a 360. and make sure to get gears of war and xbox live.

I'm a prospective Wii owner. How much do the virtual console games run?

I've always played more handhelds than consoles due to traveling, commuting etc. If that's your situation, I'd recommend the DS. I've played the shit out of mine.

I say if you're not gonna play the actual game on the actual system, download it in ROM form for free.

I downloaded Sonic for a goof the other night. Good for nostalgia. But I look at the Virtual Console as an "I'm bored of the games I have and am too lazy to go out and get a new one". It's all about convenience.

I bought Zelda Orcania of Time, but I need to buy a wireless gamecube controller to play it. There's a bunch of games I still want to buy.

I love my wii. The VC games aren't as good as the normal releases, a lot of turbografix games but there are some gems (iceclimbers). I wish they would start doing some N64 games besides mario kart.

But I found this link from Wiiplay today, It's sort of a pyramid scam thing but they start you out with money. You can buy games and dvd's from other people with it, except I don;t think you can take your money back out once you put it in (hence the scam). I thought it would be cool to try it out jsut for the free $25. I'll post my refer link below if anyone is interested or just go to switchplanet.com.

[Sorry, no referral links on rf.net -Jon]

I have had my Wii for a couple of months. The console games are alright, but to really take advantage of the Wii mote you have to play the new games. I have Tiger Woods and it Rocks.

Emulators can be really really annoying. Some of the ROMS are glitchy, you have to play on your computer... I like how I can just pick a game, download it onto the Wii, and play it with a regular controller. I tried using a controller mapping program to a USB controller with ROMs a while ago, and it never worked out right.
I have enjoyed the VC quite a bit. We've downloaded a bunch of games (though I am waiting with baited breath for a release of DuckTales and Super Mario Brothers 2 for the original NES).
Nintendo will not only be able to expand its catalog with new titles, but they'll be able to bring back old ones as well which should be able to suit just about anyone's needs.
We also have a 360 with the live marketplace which is good too, but for downloadable game content only there is something just great about the Wii that edges it out in my book. Maybe it is Mario collecting coins as you download.
Wii by far is my favorite system, but I still enjoy the 360 quite a bit.

I will be getting a Wii for this purpose alone.
I''m really interest in all the Zelda games after II, as I switched to Sega at that time, and never went back. How many of the Zelda games have been released for the VC????

The original, A Link To The Past and Ocarina of Time have been released so far.

I think I might pick up that collectors disc for the Gamecube if I see it, then.
