due to the current upside of the cards i didnt post em

They have a few proven talents over the complete lack of winning potential of the others

When I see how pitifully the Detroit Lions are run I'm not surprised that Bill Ford managed to run the Ford Motor Company into the ground.

They are far and away the most embarrassing franchise in professional sports.

The Raiders were in a Super Bowl a few years ago, and have won a few in their time. The current incarnation of the Cleveland Browns is really an expansion team, so they get a break.

The Lions have no excuse whatsoever, aside from piss poor management.

Had to go Raiders. While the other teams truly suck, the Raiders have got to be the most dysfunctional organization in sports.
patsopinion wrote:

due to the current upside of the cards i didnt post em

They have a few proven talents over the complete lack of winning potential of the others

Ummm...no. Having talent is a far cry from winning games. Talented players go there on the downside of their careers to play golf. Emmitt Smith was very up front about that. I remember when they introduced him he talked about how much he was looking forward to golfing there. That's not exactly an encouraging commitment to winning. CORRECTED: They won a wild card game in '98. Still, in the modern era of the NFL - they're 2-5 in the post season. They deserve to be on this list.

I'm a Raiders fan .... and I picked the Raiders. The Lions are a close second, but at least they have talent all around (coaching staff included). Raiders SUCK all the way around and I'll bet money they fuck up the #1 pick and trade it for other picks .. they NEED a QA, they can pick up other positions in the later rounds and free agency

The Raiders really don't deserve to be on this list.

When I saw the thread title, the Cards immediately came to mind, followed by the Raiders. Lions are definitely deserving also.

Based on length of losing and general incompetence, it has to go to the Cards. At least they are trying now by coming close to the salary cap, but they are still failing.

I voted for the cards. They have been to the playoffs 2 times in 40+ years. Yes they have a ton of talent, but they still didnt win.

I will also agree with the lions, due to their last 5 or 6 years and the fact that the owner keeps that awful GM even though he hasnt done 1 thing right.

How is it that he keeps his job but someone like Marty wins 14 games and is fired or Norv Turner geta 3rd shot to lose?

Lions are the winners here (for once) for multiple reasons.

1) Worst GM in football by far. How he continues to stay afloat there baffles everyone in football.

2) Horrible owner. Seriously, who makes all these choices, the owner.

3) Horrible stadium and city. The stadium stems from years of bad teams and absolutely no leverage, and the ability of the owner to get things moving in the right direction. If Catrina hit Detroit, the fucking dome would have fallen in on the refugees. The city, well that's a fucking train wreck itself.

4) Blind Drafting. How the fuck can a team ever dig out when they never draft like a team trying to build up. They've been horrible year in and year out and constantly draft wide outs and ify QBs. Now this again ties into the owner, GM and soon to be mentioned coaches, but WTF?

5) Coaches. A lot of this stems from the owner and GM again, but has anyone straightened this org out? Not even Mooch could get things on track for a year or close. It's a volatile situation there, so who in there right mind would want that job if they're even close to being a talented coach. It'll kill your value and could set your career back years. So most of the coaches they do get now are washed up and or lesser valued.

Sure a lot of this can be said about the other teams listed but Detroit is the top here easy in my mind.

Arizona is a fucked org too, but have a great town, new stadium and some pretty good drafts of late. Looking forward they at least have some hope, now it's key that the owner doesn't get in the way again. The Edge move was a waste though. You don't spend a ton of money on an RB (aging and at the end again, see Smith) without some semblance of a O line. I also hated the Denny Green hire as well bc he just never made me a believer in his coaching abilities. He proved me right.

I'd love to say Oakland being a Charger fan, but hey they have been to the Super Bowl more recently then a lot of teams. The problem with Oakland is clearly Al Davis not letting his people take care of things he shouldn't. The Art Shell hire was a joke and nobody in the fucking world thought he'd do shit. It was clearly a control move by Shell at the expense of his team. I also can't imagine they thought the QB situation was even close to good but yet they just moved along without a single good move. Yet they do have some pieces in place to be a gritty team again and have a crazy/loyal fan base.

As someone else stated you have to give the Browns a pass as an expansion team. They also have a decent hire at coach just getting his people in place without a QB worth his salt still. They're easily in the building phase, and clearly have some key parts even at some skill positions. Give them time, they'll be a decent team and give others fits.

Is this supposed to be the worst franchise lately, or of all time? If it's all time, you can't say Raiders or Skins.

Gotta go with the Lions... Just too many years of futility. The Raiders have had some success, and even a title. I The Cards may be on the verge of doing something. The Browns have to be given a pass since they're still relatively young as the current organization goes. And they are beloved in Cleveland. The Lions just can't ever seem to get things together, or get any real fan support, even though they've been around forever.

He is a proven west coast offensive guy. The Browns do not run said offense, As an Eagle fan I can say this with confidence. He isn't as good without the option do scramble. Browns still get a pass.

this is really a two team race...Lions and Cardinals. Raiders almost went to the superbowl a few years ago. tough choice between the two. Cards have put together a team with a bunch of potential, but team history wise they have to be the worst.

And why is everyone so down on Oakland? They had a REALLY good defense last year and most, if not all, of their problems were on offense (their QBs were Aaron Brooks and Andrew Walter, Terrapins Legend LaMont Jordan missed most of the season, the offensive Coordinator had been out of football for like 10 years and was slicing meat in a deli somewhere)

If they can get themselves a QB and rebuild that offensive line, they'll be okay. And it doesn't take that long to go from zero to hero in todays NFL

It's not even close.

The Lions by far are the worst organization in the NFL.

-The Browns have busted themselves with a lot of bad first round draft picks, but that organization has at least held people accountable for those mistakes, and did actually make the playoffs a few years back under Butch Davis.

-The Cardinals are a terribly run organization, but I give them a slight nod over the Lions because they are in the midst of a future building plan with Leinart, Boldin, and Fitzgerald.

-The Raiders were horrendous this year, but if you look at Al Davis's tenure, there's been successes and failures. He sure as hell isn't the best owner in football, but he's also not the worst.

The problem with the Lions is that there is no accountability and Matt Millen is one of the worst drafters in the league. Three #1 picks on WRs? Everyone knows you win in this league now by building from the lines back.
