What the hell is going on in this country? I remember when I was a kid it was two seperate holidays: we got off on Lincoln's and Washington's birthday. We would cut out silouettes of the president's and hang them in our classroom windows. I remember having assemblies where we read reports that we wrote on the presidents.

I was just talking to my kids and they honestly had no clue why they were home from school today. When I told my six year old daughter it was Presidents Day she asked me if it was George Bush's birthday today. They apparently have done nothing in school about this.

So, I figured since they're home I'll turn off Nickelodeon and force them to watch the History Channel. Surely there should something about Lincoln or Washington on. Nope. It apparently is Star Trek day on the History Channel leading up to a new documentary on Star Trek they're premiering tonight. I just sat through two back to back Star Trek related shows and coming up at 2:00 PM they're showing Planet of the Apes again. Sweet Baby Jesus, WTF?!!!!!

I was watching the Seinfeld episode with the"quiet talker" tonight. In the scene where they're at the restaurant (and Jerry unknowingly agrees to wear the pirate shirt), I noticed there was a painting in the background. I'm pretty sure it was Abraham Lincoln, but it was blurred out. Why would they blur that painting? Are they anti Lincoln?
