And I remember a few months ago some workers were hit by a train, and I believe one of them died. It seems to me that way too many people are getting hurt and killed by the DC metro. Does this happen as often in New York? Even if it does, the ridership of DC's metro is tiny compared to NY. I take the bus/train at least once week, and my girl uses it to get to and from work every day. This stuff freaks me out.

If I don't post after my spring break it's because I got killed by the metro!

I take the bus and metro everyday. My drivers seem to be pretty good, but I usually am not paying too much attention. I tend to be a magnet for cars, even when I'm in a crosswalk, so I'll be extra vigilant.

The WMATA claims that this past incident was the fault of the pedestrian and they were going to treat it that way.

LOOK BOTH WAYS!

I like this quote
"I totally blame Metro. They are putting drivers out on the street too fast. They're not training these people properly," Sutton said. "Accidents happen, but a big bus like that should have seen her."

Maybe SHE should have seen the big bus.

The Buses are dangerous. I routinely have had bad experiences with them. Most recently I had one where I was trying to change lanes in front of one and the bastard wouldn't let me in. I'm sorry, there's no way a bus driver should drive that aggressively.

The metro is pretty safe. It seems like there's an isolated incident every year or so, but it seems pretty few and far between.
