This is something that has haunted me for years, and was just re-awakened when I was watching an episode of Pete & Pete (Field of Pete, the baseball episode) and I heard the song again. It can be heard here, on the website for Red Dead Revolver:

http://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadrevolver/index2.htm

Judging by the whistling and the electric guitar plucks in the begining, it leads me to believe this is the work of famous Western composer Ennio Morricone... But I've gone up and down the lists of his Best-Of albums and soundtracks, and I JUST CAN'T FIND IT. Is it a Morricone rip-off? Is it from a movie? A TV show? Help me close the book on this ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!

It's from The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, and it is who you think it is. I don't know the name of that particular track, though.

from Gamespot;

"Red Dead Revolver features a soundtrack filled with music that would fit snugly in a spaghetti Western. In fact, many of the tunes heard in the game were composed by Ennio Morricone, who provided the scores for all of Sergio Leone's classic Westerns, including the unforgettable theme from The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly."

So they paid THE MAN to compose the soundtrack to the game!!!

But when I go on Amazon and preview the tracks to "The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly", it doesn't seem to be there.
Are you sure it's not from one of the other Spaghetti Westerns? Like Fistfull of Dollars or High Plains Drifter?

I think it just sounds so much like the GBU soundtrack, that it's hard to tell them apart.

The track I'm looking for wasn't written for Red Dead cuz I've heard it in many other things that pre-date that game, like this episode of Pete & Pete.

I've basically gone down the preview list of every Morricone soundtrack and can't find it for the life of me...

I have 400 Morricone albums, about 50 of which are from the Westerns, I'll see if I can figure out what that piece is. It's def NOT The GBU tho!
