last night we went out for pizza. i took out 20 bucks from the atm, went to the pizzeria, we had out meal and i gave the counter-guy (also the owner) the twenty. the bill was 9 dollars and he gave me back a lonely single. i informed him that i gave him a 20, not a 10. he opened the register and all the bills were where they belonged so he deduced that i had given him a ten. i'm not one to cause a scene, so i told him he was wrong and turned and left. i've gone to this place for 15 years or more, and now they lost a semi-good customer over a lousy ten bucks. so much for the independent businessman treating ya right.

Same thing happened to me when I went to the movies. I gave the lady a twenty and she thought I gave her a ten. I opened my wallet and said "See all these twentys? I just came from the ATM. I gave you a twenty because I needed the change." She didn't care.

So much for the customer always being right.

The other day I was at the deli I always go to, and I paid with a twenty, and the guy gave me back change for a ten, and I was like, I paid with a 20. He didn't even question it, just handed me a 10 back. That was pretty cool.

When I was a kid, working in mcdonalds, this guy tried to run a scam on me. He had someone pay with a 50 before him. Then he came to my register, gave me a ten, and when i gave him back change, said he gave me a 50. Now a 50 was in the register, and he knew that. My manager asked me, if I was sure he gave me a 10. I said yes, and the manager counted out the entire register. He told the customer, to get out when it counted right. After that, my manager told me to always keep the bill on top, of the register, until after you give change. This way the customer can't claim they gave you a different amount than they actually did.

This has happened to me several times over the years especially in the case where you might give the cashier $21 for a $15.75 bill. (Obviously bec I have a $20 bill and some singles) The assumption is that a $5 and a quarter back. It's actually sort of a favor to them.

Anyway, I always say the amount I'm giving to the person out loud now.

I did the opposite of this once and boy did I feel like a retard! I gave the
person at a McDonald's drive thru a $20 bill but I thought I'd given them a
ten so when they tried to give me change back from a twenty I wouldn't
take it, insisting I gave them a ten. When I found that ten in my wallet
later, I couldn't believe how stupid I was.

Sheeesh any cashier should know: leave the money the person gave you on top of the drawer, give the change. That way if there's any dispute, there's the money you gave them right there.

I sell at flea markets, and whatever they give me stays on that table until the change is given.

I've heard so many screaming matches at the flea's on this, and it always seems to be about $20.

'I GAVE YOU THE RIGHT FUCKING CHANGE !!!!!!'

Are $20 bills evil?
