Do southerners get sarcasm?

Last year I moved from CT to FL, and about 3/4 of the shit I say is sarcastic.  Well whenever I use sarcasm, it usually goes right over peoples heads down here, they think I'm serious.  Anyone else move from north to down south and notice this?  They also have some cornball senses of humor as far as I can tell.  Hard to imagine R&F getting a following down here when in FL.. i don't consider FL the south. it's in the south, but i think of GA, the Carolinas, Mississippi the south. was FL even in the civil war?
