I have to give a lot of opinion based papers and speeches and I make sure not to include my personal beliefs if I think that the professor wouldn't like it. Besides, they ain't even country!

The Dixie Chicks never really left....they just dont get played on the radio any more, like most halfway decent acts.. I like how everyone points out they dont "sing country" any more...Shania Twain does? Those douches from Rascal Flatts do? Carrie Underwood does? I have no problem with them...frankly, who cares what they say or do, and i thought it was retarded the way the "country music community" reacted to them, which is a big part of the reason no one takes Nashville seriously at all (not to mention its current penchant for unlistenable garbage that theyve gotten all the hayseeds, particularly the hayseed women, to buy)  I just feel their last album Home was much better than Taking the Long Way...they just got too "pop" musically for me to care about them any more..but i wish em all the best

mudo,  i am in no way a fan of thiers, but i agree with you.  i dont care what their thoughts on world issues are, same for BONO, just shut up and sing, dance, hob a knob, do what ever you do, i am just not interested in what an entertainer thinks, unless it is Ron & Fez.

The Chicks had the foresight and intelligence to see that what Bush was doing is wrong, just as so many people have come to realize since 2003.  Good for them and I hope everyone of their critics choke on their words.

That's fine -- but what angers people is that they were gutless and spoke their criticism in a foreign country.  I'd at least respect them if they had pulled that stunt here.I think you have to look at the circumstances.  They were already on tour in Europe when the news broke that we were going to invade Iraq.  And Natalie Mines said it in between two songs (to an applause at that) and her statement of ""I said it there 'cause that's where I was." is understandable.  You think no other artist said nothing of the sort, here and abroad around the same time?  In fact, if it wasn't picked up by the The Guardian, no one would have ever bothered with the worry.
