The explanation:

Corporate stores are afraid of "investigative reporters" like Arnold Diaz blowing stuff out of proportion with "dirty restaurant" stories, or also afraid of bloggers starting crap on the internet.

Of course, if someone talked to me like that, I would have immediately demanded to see a manager to get my lunch comped. If he was the manager, I would have laughed in his face and took a picture of him for being rude, and then made an attica-like scene as I left the place.

For the people asking, Chipotle is a fast food mexican restaurant that is owned by McDonalds. Their food is alright, I would actually go there, and I never go to McDonalds. However, its not as good as a sit down Mexican restaurant.

I never understood people that were insane over Chipotle. There is absolutely nothing special about this place. It's just an above average fast food place to me, kinda like a mexican Boston Market.

Yes for all the people who simple refuse to just Google the place and want to post asking unnessary questions...........yes, they sell burritos and that about it (maybe two other things) ......made to order Subway style.

And the reason they don't let you take pictures is because it is a communist restaurant.

They are ok if you like a lot of rice with your food, they just give you a ton of rice with everything, i would rather eat at a Baja Fresh then a Chipolte (however, they used to have a really catchy radio commercial that i would sing non-stop)

And if they threatened anything over your pictures you should have threatened to call INS and see who blinks first

Most corporately owned stores don't allow pictures. For instance, if you try to take pictures in stores in teh mall, they'll ask you to stop and/or leave. The copyright everything from their products to their store's look and feel.

A chipotle is a smoked chile, not necessarilly a jalapeno. The jalapeno has far too much credibility in this country. I make chipotles from red and green serranos, then pulverize them in a coffee grinder (spice mill) with some dried oregano. Throw that shit on some pizza or whatever.

Chipotle is like Baja Fresh but Baja is better. When I lived in Cali in 2005 I ate at Baja Fresh, it was really good. Then I found one in Jersey about a month ago in Middlesex County. They need one in NY by me.

And their biggest concern isn't with investigative reporters or bloggers. It's the competition coming in there to take pics that causes them to institute the rules. Though the reporters are also a concern.
