Anyone know of some?

I have some mp3's I would like to make ringers on my cell phone but don't really know how. I did a Google search and I see some free one's and some for a charge but how do I know which one is good?

I'm hoping you geeks can help me out.

Actually this is a great website, You can take any song in your music library on your computer, pick the part of the song you like and send it to your phone. The service is free if you wait for the clip to be sent or you can have the clip sent immediately for a price.

http://www.mobile17.com

My phone (Sony Ericsson W810i) lets you just use mp3 files as a ringtone. You just connect the phone to a computer (it will see the phone and the memory card as two external hard drives) and you can just drag and drop the mp3 file into a folder on the phone or memory card. My phone has a 500kb limit which is small for a full song but plenty for a normal ring tone.

The phone I had before this one was ancient so I couldn't really put in my own ringtones unless I was a hacker or something.

Also it depends on how new your phone is. I have a new LG enV and all I have to do is email myself a song and then change the ringer......................

My current ring - Banana Phone

My current text message ring - FRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRUNKIS.

HA! Gotta love the Banana Phone.

I'll check out that website, thanks.

I used to have a Treo650 but it was huge and I didn't like it. So I got a nice skinny little Sanyo Katana.

It's a rip off of the Razr so no memory cards in this phone. I don't think I can hook it up to the computer like I could my Treo.

Aggie: if you could share what phone and service you have, it would help out... different phones with different services are set up weirdly. I have a Verizon E815, for example...

Doc do you have this same problem?

I also have the Sanyo Katana on Sprint. The only problem so far is that the volume on sound clip ringtones is too low, so I have to boost the volume first using Audacity. I use Mixxer to upload and manage clips.

I would assume any 24 related ringers are exclusive to Sprint because that is the service they use on the show (pretty easy to determine by the phone models the characters use - all Sprint exclusives)

I make my own by taking a song I like, converting it to .WAV with dB Poweramp. Play the .WAV file on windows sound recorder. I cut up the parts of the song into 30 second clips I like. I save them and convert them back to mp3 using Poweramp again.
