Does anyone know how to make a real good one? Im in such a mood for one right now but I usually dont make good ones. They never seem to come out like my moms did or even as good as a diner.

I take white bread, put some cheese on it and put it in the toaster oven. Does anyone know how to make one that taste real good and moist?

P.S. We need to have a unamed food/snack topic thread. We all love to eat and snack so instead of always going off topic we can go right to the food area. IMO

You have to use thick white bread. Texas toast white is what I use. Thick cheese slices too if you are using processed cheese. I usually cook them in a frying pan.

This may not sound good but trust me... It is. Instead of butter, spray the bread with butter flavor Pam. It fries up perfectly and isn't very fattening. It's also increadibly easy to make.

i grill both sides at the same time. i butter each slice, put them in the pan topped with cheese, and then i pick one up and flip it onto the other slice. flip it if it's not brown enough for you. my favorite cheese is some type of chipotle cheddar and i use whole wheat bread, usually sara lee honey wheat.

The powdered sugar thing is great on french toast but never tried it on a grilled cheese sammy. I guess a Monte Cristo really is just a combo of french toast and grilled ham, turkey and cheese which is a weird concoction that is very tasty. I'll have to try it some day.
