I've got the wife hooked up pretty nicely, but my stuff, although funtioning perfectly well is a bit antiquated.

I am running a SkyFi 1 and a Delphi Boombox. One of the reasons I haven't upigraded is because I MUST have my boombox. Anywho, our friends at MyRadioStore currently are having a sweet deal on a Roady XT and Altec Lansing Boombox. Is there any reason I should or should not upgrade my tried and true equipment?

PS. And if I do, does anyone want my old gear?

I want it! Unless you're charging more than shipping for it.

If you are giving away your old gear, I have a suggestion.

Organize some sort of contest where the winner gets the gear. That would insure maximum entertainment value to the rest of us board members.

Just say the word and people can start throwing out contest ideas.

After pondering all day, I am going to go for the upgrade. It may be unnecessary, but I'm worth it.

Do you guys know if the Roady 2 peripherals (home antena, stand, etc) are compatible with the Roady XT?

I have been seriously considering an upgrade myself, but don't want to spend a ton of money recreating my auto and home setups.

I have the Delphi boombox with CD player and I love it. I upgraded to the Skyfi 2 from the Skyfi 1 for real cheap recently cuz of the new Skyfi3 being released. I also just bought an Alpine deck with XM built in but won't put it in my boat until spring time.

I belive that they are separate car kits. But the package I am getting comes with the car kit, and the boombox. All I should have to do is change the cradle. I think the antenna is universal.

Is this normal??...I have a roadyxt with home kit...So my wife can watch tv I have a set of pretty nice SONY radio headsets...I just set them to recieve the roady signal...I realize i have to stay with in range of the roady but it works great for having privacy and xm head phones without buying them...

If you are swapping, no. If you are adding an additional unit, yes. Another 6 bucks/month.

I wear a headset around the house all of the time. Especially if my daughter is watching TV, I will get my radio and pop one earbud in. It's great!

When I can't sleep I will also listen to headphones while I'm in bed.

It was out of the box ready. I am already familiar with the Roady XT since my wife has one already. It is perfect for us. Small with a nice display.

As for the boombox, I couldn't be happier. The size is tiny, but the sound is HUGE! It blows away the Delphi in all respects.

For $59, I would not think twice. Go for it!!!

I still have an original Roady in my work truck. I play it through the FM Plug In Modulator (Looks like a big cigarette lighter plug) and it totally blows any other satellite modulator out. My father was following me in his car with his Sirius on (I know, I know, but he wanted it for NASCAR) and he couldn't even get reception because my signal was too strong.

I've gone into customers places many times and if they have 107.3 on I get to hear Ron and Fez while I'm there and they have no idea what's going on... LOL...

My Roady XT or whatever the new one is is also pretty strong. I didn't attach the doohickey that they sent with it to lower the signal strength...
