Recently i've been having severe issues with being cold/staying warm. I typically wear a just below the waist wool peacoat, hood and all and that has been doing absolutely nothing to keep me warm and shield me from the wind and such. Good $150 investment.

I've succumbed to wearing a zip hoodie and puff vest under my jacket on top of tucking a scarf into the three and i still freeze my ass off.

So i've heard good things about TNF and how they keep you warm with the fleece and shell combination. However, i cant find the exact jacket id like to get outside of their website and ive been told not to buy off of it because you may not like the fit of your fleece or shell and the sizing might have to be altered.

Anyone have one of these jackets or bought one offline and had difficulties matching up sizes, how'd you get around that?

Any info or help would be appreciated.

they look warm, but more than that it seems to be THE winter fashion item for 14-19 year old hispanic girls (from my subway riding experience). for that reason alone, i could never get one. reminds me of how lumberjack jackets were the shit in the early 80s.

your best bet is to go to Newport Center In jersey city at Jazzy's. They have a huge variety of North Face. buy one at a store. theres sizes are kinda iffy.

if you dont like jersey city, then im sure you can find one in a Urban gear store nearest you.

Wow, I remember when TNF stuff was strictly Ski Gear. Everyone in my goddamned preppy highschool had the fleece, the fleece vest, the puffy vest and the shell for skiing. I say ditto on the try it on in person and also consider trying on some of the men sizes as well. I prefer the cut of a men's small to a women's medium. The men's jackets just let you move better.

I also ditto weekapaug's comments about the Patagonia and would like to add Marmot to your list of jackets you're searching for. If you have an EMS (Eastern Mountain Sports) around you try to get there, they have a great selection of all of these kinds of jackets.

There is a northface store on 73rd and broadway in NYC. They probably have a really good selection. I think there is also one in woodbury commons. You might have better luck finding what you want there.
