View Full Version : Bartending On Long Island???

So my thread about work lead me to start this thread. For some time now, I have been thinking about doing Bartending School, and then bartending two or three days out of the week.

Has anyone else done this? Do you really make any money? or is it just a bunch of shit??

I am a night person, and when I am comfortable can be a very good conversationalist. So bartending would be ideal. If anyone has any suggestion, ideas, or whatever, please help me!!!!!!

HELP!

i dont know much about bartending from the other side of the bar but i would imagine that money depends on the bar you're working at and how low cut your top is

for some reason i just imagine chick bartenders making more money

I use to tend bar during college. On a busy night I would do really well, and the lady bar tenders did even better. If you know what your doing and don't make the patrons wait long you will always do well. You said you can keep a conversation, and that always helps. People like to have a common ground with the keep.

Oh side note: I have seen pics of you from RonFez.net parties and you are beautiful, that will always lead to guys throwing more money your way.

ive never tended bar so i dont know how much of a financial benefit you can get from it, but i do know that bartending school is a complete waste of money and theres no need for you to do it.

Gaia, you should bartend in the city, you can make a lot more doing a lot less. you also don't NEED to go to bartending 'school'. if you want a chance to learn while working at a bar in the city, pm me and ill give you some info that might help

I worked at a catering hall when I was younger and all the bartenders there would laugh at people taking bartending classes. They are a waste of time the best teacher is experience. These classes often boast that they can hook you up with a job after completion. All they do is take your money. Your very attractive that will get you a bartending job right away. Someone will teach you the basic drinks ,if you don't already know how to mix them, and after a week or so you'll be comfortable. As far as the money goes it depends on where you work and how flirty you are with the patrons.

It mostly depends on the place you work. You can work at a club on thurs-sat and make $200-$500 a night. But it has to be a busy club and not over staffed.

I too am a night person, so I loved and miss working in the club scene. You will love it, but bartending schools are not always great. Most places dont care about school, they care about experience. Your best bet is go to a local bar that has a decent size crowd and ask if you can train there or if they will hire and train you. I know clubs, local bars love to hire pretty people. It helps the bars make money and you will make more tips. So you have the advantage, on your next free day take a couple hours and go into these local bars/rest and ask. I think you will get a job, training no problem. Then you can save the $400 thaqt bartending schools charge.
