There are so many doggies that need a home, why do people go to petsmart and other place like that when they can just adopt a dog from a pound or rescue place? If I ever get another dog I will only rescue one.

Click click click. Hope it helps

I would like to add something along with the animal lovers.

Please, people if you decide on getting a pet, do the research before you buy/adopt. It's unbelievable how many times we get in animals that people dump off because they don't know how to take care of their animal or don't care. Where I work, it's mainly small animals we get in. They get adopted pretty fast which is good, but you get people who decide to leave them out in the cold outside our store in the mornings. If you can't take care of an animal, have a set of balls and bring the animal into the store and transfer the custody of the animal over.

Parents: Around the end of the school year, some schools have aquariums or habitats with either lizards, hermit crabs or fish. Think about what's going to take to care for this animal should your child bring it home. I've had countless parents saying "Oh we'll just let it die." Well you are the one who knew what you were getting yourself into, so you and your child should take care of it. I don't mean to teach you how to raise your kids, but read over(if they give you a note concerning this) with your family and decide if you all are committed to this. (Even though most kids will get bored with them and the parents are stuck taking care of them...)

I don't mean to rant n shit, so I apologize for kinda derailing this thread.

Just as an FYI - the cats and dogs at Petco and Petsmart are not being "sold". They give space to local rescue organizations, the animals there would otherwise be in a shelter.

(Usually not working when the dogs are there.)

Edit: The agency at PetsMart that I used to work at, usually has days during the weekend where they set up shop for donations, or selling pet blankets, etc to pay for food n such for the cats. Years ago I got my cat from the same agency and shes been great.
