Did they ever find out what caused the flat? I can't remember if he pitted with the rest of the pack and it was just a bad tire or something on the track.

If the Busch race is any indication, the new Las Vegas has become a super-sized Bristol. I think the final count was 14 cautions, and only 13 cars finishing on the lead lap. Carnage!!!

Although I lol'ed when Burton tapped Douche the Younger to grab the victory.

Montoya can drive as well as anyone there. Unfortunately he's in bad cars so he will not stand a chance most of the time. As far as Robby Gordon you can complain all you want but I bet Toyota and Napa would rather see their car brush the wall then in a commercial with Sammy Hagar. Time to change the ad. I can't drive 55, but neither can Mikey.

1) Todd Kluever was the guy in line for Martin's spot. Didn't do so well in Busch, and Roush lost confidence in him.

2) Dale Sr.'s grandkid (Jeffrey, I think) who was signed by DEI, from a PURELY MARKETING perspective, doesn't look to me nearly as marketable as Dale Jr. He's not as good looking as Dale Jr, and who knows how he talks. Plus we don't even know how well he drives, he's only 17.

Then again, Carl Edwards was one ugly mo-fo when he was in Craftsman. It's amazing what a good workout program, some proactiv solution, and new veneers will do for a guy.

(and Dale Jr. was one surly looking dude when he was younger too... I remember the bleach job and the scary facial hair)

But again, to let Jr. get away is insane. But at this point, I'd almost prefer to see Junior in an RCR or Joe Gibbs car, because DEI's been manufacturing crap this year.

3) Mikey Waltrip now has a show on XM. I guess he has plenty of time on Sundays to do it.

I read that Steve Park was trying to get a ride this week. I'm assuming he didn't. That guy worries me. I liked him a lot, but I was glad he bowed out when he did. It was heart breaking to hear him try to speak for the first several years after his accident. You can still hear it when he talks.

It's going to be real interesting to see how the COT's deal with the bumping and rubbing here. And what will happen when the new front ends of these cars gets obiterated like it certainly will today. IE how much does the new configuration have to do with handling. Can't wait.

It doesn't say why they don't have one now, but here's the 28 car history (http://www.nascar.com/2004/news/headlines/cup/01/19/histories_28/index.html).
The numeral then went unused in 2003 as Robert Yates Racing switched to the No. 38.

I remember when they were always talking about a 28 car curse, because two of it's drivers died, and one was so seriously hurt it ended his career. The funny thing is, none of it happened while actually in the 28 car. One was killed in a helicopter, one was killed in Bush practice, and one was hurt in Bush practice.

And bag of ice being 10 bucks... that's around the norm, given inflation for trackside... I mean, usually a bag of ice runs 5-7 bucks at a 7-11.

I can't stand either of them, but I liked the way they raced at the end. I'm not for obvious wrecking of other cars, but NASCAR has gotten WAY too pussified over the last several years. I think the main reason is because of all the super young drivers who don't spend enough time in Bush and below. There was a time when most drivers were experienced enough to bump and rub without wrecking people every time.

Johnson's car was down a cylinder, there was no way he was winning the race. Unlike the Vickers thing at Talladega, Johnson had a legitimate shot to win, along with Jr.
Montoya, right now, is Nascar's golden boy. He's of color, he's well spoken, and he's got skills. He's about the closest thing NASCAR has to Tiger Woods right now.

He also fired his crew chief, making this the third new crew chief this year.
BTW, remember what I said about Waltrip being an awful driver? I want to rectify that.
Considering Toyota's performance and how Jarrett's been doing, I think it's a combination of Mikey being a mediocre driver and Toyota being crap.
