Yes. There's a good mix, depending what you're into.

The Bongo book is usually a sampler that includes some Simpsons. DC is giving away a Justice League book, there's a Transformers Movie prequel book, a Marvel Spider-Man book (hey, the movie comes out same weekend), a Family Guy book, some books for kids like Archie and Mickey Mouse.

You can search for last year's thread to see what people picked up. Personally, I enjoyed the Runaways book.

Depends on the store. My store will do one or two for free and charge 25 cents each for additional books to stop people from just taking all the stacks off the shelf.

You silly goose; you'll be able to do both!

There's a small shop at the corner near the RWJUH by my old apartment in New Brunswick.

I swear that it's easily accessible from 287 and is not far from the ceremony location. PM me if you need directions.

If you wanted to hit Funnybooks instead, well, since the ceremony doesn't start until 4:30, you have plenty of time to go in the morning and go home & shower before making the trip South.

I have my comic book day planned out with my six year old. We're going to hit up that big comic book store in midtown to get her some comics, then we're going to the big Toys R Us there because they have some big celebration with characters, food, free carousel rides and 20% off your purchase if you make a $5 donation to a charity. We're picking up a gift for a birthday party she has to go to that evening and a new game for the Wii. Then we're going to the Virgin Megastore a couple of doors down to see if they're giving out any kids comic books that she didn't get at the Midtown comics shop (they had a sign on the front door that they are participating). Then we're going home to the upper east side, and maybe we'll hit up the local comic shop to see if they're giving out anything else that she wants.

My son and I have tickets for noon to see Spiderman 3. So we are going to hit the comic store here near us at around 10. And then there is another one that isnt to far from there. It is going to be a good time. I hope you guys have fun MB

The "rare" stuff will be the toys, like the Star Wars attactix figure.

Anyone have any stores in Baltimore they can recommend? I'll be in Charm City this weekend, and my girlfriend is going to be shopping with her mother on Saturday, which means I'll be all on my own and probably have a few hours to kill.

I just got back from my New England Comics store in Norwood, MA with my 3 and 5 year olds. Free Comic Book Day was a rousing success! My daughter is psyched about her L'il Archie and Mickey Mouse comics while my son is digging the Spiderman and Sonic the Hedgehog titles. They also gave my son a free Batman Heroclix figure and a "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" one-sheet. I picked up a few back issues of some kid-friendly comics as well for a couple of bucks.

It was a great way to spend part of the morning and we will be reading the comics throughout the day.

Anyone with kids, nephews or nieces should definetly visit their local comics store and enjoy!

I should have asked earlier abou the etiquette of free comic book day. I walked in and saw the comics on the counter and knew I wanted a lot of them. So I looked them over real quick, then I went and got a few comics I needed to fill a few gaps. Went back to the counter and only picked up 3 free ones so I wouldn't appear greedy. I got the X-Men/Runaways, Amazing Spiderman, and Justice League. They had a bunch of stuff tho. Somehow it just didn't seem cool to pick up one of each even tho I was buying. My wife waited in the truck while I ran into the store. I should have sent her back in there to make the one of each mad grab and run for me. She could have gotten away with it, especially if she took my daughter. If they'd said anything she would have made immediately turned it around on them and made the guy feel bad about not letting a little girl have the free comics. I think next year, that's the plan.

I got the Spider-Man and the Devil's Due flip book (Hack/Slash and Family Guy, I was more interested in the former). I also got the Star Wars miniature figure. Didn't know/see the Batman Attactix.

My comic store was limiting it to two books each, but I'm sure they'll have extras of alot of them when I go on Wednesday. Didn't see Justice League, passed on Legion (they had way too many copies), a few others looked interesting and I can pick up later if I really want them.
