Right or wrong, it kind of makes sense.

It would fall under the "can't taunt the other team" rule.

"Old, white NFL" - that's what I like to call it.

They wouldn't know fun if it kicked them in their old, shriveled up balls.

I know many people are mad about the NFL rules pertaining to celebrations and in some cases, rightfully so. In the CFL there are no rules to keep celebrations down and with the ego's nowadays the celebrations are getting ridiculous.

It sucks but I think it's the old "give an inch" saying... Where can the NFL draw the line?

he probably wouldn't have had to worry about anything if he hadn't done that flip.

Speak of Reggie Bush... You guys think he is a bit phony and that the bloom of coming off the rose a bit? He is considered this classy great guy, but he now has had a shady past with the collage booster and stuff, and now that taunting shit was really classless... I mean what the fuck have you done in this league that you feel you can point and taunt one of the most hard working and classy guys in the league in Urlacher?? Not to mention one of the best Defensive players in the sport.

It's called a game for a reason and should be treated as such. Sure, the trash talking does get out of hand and needs to be handled, but for Christ's sake, it's a game. People are supposed to have fun. What, a 260 lb. linebacker can't handle someone pointing at him and his feelings are gonna be hurt?

To quote the Houston Astrodome crowd in The Bad News Bears in Breaking Training - "Let them play! Let them play!"

I personally don't care and I do agree that it was unneccesary, but my problem is with the NFL and where does this shit end. He pointed a fucking finger! Big deal! Doesn't anyone see that pretty soon these players won't be able to do anything for fear of a flag or fine and there will be zero fun in the GAME?

I didn't see any Pats getting fined for doing Merriman's dance in the middle of the field when there were Chargers players in the vicinity.

With the Urlacher thing, I seen it and was disappointed with it a bit. I was more disappointed with the flip into the endzone. I still like him, I still think he is a great person (from what I've seen) but I think he is just growing as a person and a player. He has made a few mistakes, probably will make a few more but I think it's all part of the learning process.

Don't be surprised if he is 'the face' of the NFL and becomes thier greatest ambassador in the next 3-4 years.

I loved the flip. If I could flip like that I'd do it to taunt people all the time. Get a better parking spot, flip and point. Win a big hand in poker, flip and point. Cockblock a friend at the bar, flip and point. Its definately the way to go.

NFL= No Fun League and I guess this is true. I like when the league had the celebrations. Some guys never do and thats their trademark, but others like to do it and should be allowed to. The problem is, not matter what the NFL does people still watch.

Funny, in this article about the rule change from 01 or 02 mentions finger pointing first. Ahead of stomping and ball spiking.
Football's elders will speak symbolically this week to every kid playing football - professional, college and high school.
Taunt no more, they will say. Don't wag your finger in an opponent's face, don't stomp on him or spike a ball near him. That's 15 yards and, probably, a fine.
I almost think the taunting for their protection. You never know when some roided up 260 pound linebacker who doesn't take kindly to some finger pointing and goes 'George Teauge' on somebody. And then when Reggie Bush gets hurt after a play the NFL sees those dollar signs disappearing.
He probalby didn't get flagged during the game because he is Reggie Bush, but the fine is not suprising in the least.

This is retarded. Sure, I was pissed off when I saw him wave back at the Bears (though the flip was just plain awesome), but so what? I was cheering for Hester all year long and those last few kicks he ran back for touchdowns he was dancing and pointing and waving like crazy. If Bush is in the wrong, then so is Hester and dozens of other players every year. The only part of it thta was stupid is that his team still wasn't winning and there was a lot of football left and his little show seemed to really pump up the Bears and they came out and blew it up after that. Wait at least until you have the lead before you start pissing off the other team.

I still like Reggie. I read that shortly after the whole thing he went to his coach and said something along the lines of "I shouldn't have done that." If you watch him the rest of the game, he's helping Bears players up left and right and seems somewhat sorry based on his actions on the field. He's still young and by and large he seems like a class act head and shoulders above most of the other players out there.
