View Full Version : Monty Python's Flying Circus

So I was sitting here flipping through the channels and I happened to stop on PBS. What do I find you ask? Well John Cleese's smiling face in one of my favorite sketches from Monty Python's Flying Circus (Ministry of Funny Walks). That got me thinking, does anyone else enjoy this like I do? I guess I could understand a lot of people not getting this kind of humor, especially amongst us Americans under 30. I know my girlfriend does not enjoy it at all. I personally find it hysterical but I was basically raised on all things Monty Python, from The Holy Grail to Fawlty Towers.

Anyone else out there still enjoy this?

I'm a fanatic. I put Holy Grail up with the greatest movies of all time. If you watch the DVD extra of Palin and Jones showing how this "Epic" movie was filmed on such a shoestring budget... These guys are geniuses.

Fawlty Towers was a fantastic show as well.

i love monty python as well, how can you not? my favorite sketch is the dead parrot. a buddy of mine had all the sketches taped off of pbs when we were in college, and we'd all watch them way too many times. my favorite tv show of all time is fawlty towers. just brilliant shit!

The Meaning of Life was not quite on par with the other two for me, but it was still a very funny movie. Any film with a song called "Every Sperm Is Sacred" has to be genius.

I love Monty Python more than life itself. I bought my first Monty Python record in 1970, it was a British import compilation album of sketches from the TV show.
Anyone who doesn't enjoy some of the Python is hopeless. That stuff was great. And I'll agree with the pro Faulty Towers too. The Bart Simpson gimmic where he's writing a different thing on the black board each episode is a rip off of the opening of Faulty Towers, where the letters would be mispelled on the sign each time. My favorite was "Farty Towels".

Of Python bits, the "Cheese Shop" was one of my favorites.
