Howdy all-knowing oracle!

Thunderlips and I just picked up our wedding pix. I know that the photographer legally owns the copyright to the photos and the negatives. My question is, would it be OK to post some of the photos as long as we put [copyright symbol] Mary Smith/Smith Photography? I've worked in publishing long enough to know about permissions and such but would this suffice since, Lord knows, we paid her enough?!?!?!?

Fondly,
~ASF~ :-)

ALICE - This is far outside my field of legal expertise.

However, I cannot imagine her giving you any hassle if you post the pics on your website for relatives and friends to view.

The public relations disaster and lost commissions the photographer would have to deal with for hassling you about this would seem to ensure that you won't have a problem.

The photographer often reserves copyright so that you have to order reprints and enlargements from him. (Not that people do, but that's another story.)
