He Is Not A Computer Wonk And Needs Advice On Whether There Is An Easy-To-Use and Install Software That He Can Do Himself, Or Should He Just Hire Someone To Do It? Success Of The Product Line Is "Iffy", So Fat Wants To Keep The Start-Up Costs To A Minimum.</font></p><p><font size="2">Is There An Off-The-Shelf Software Anyone Can RecommendThat...</font></p><p><font size="2">1. A Person Can Install Himself And Design His Own Site</font></p><p><font size="2">2. That Will Allow People To Order Products Direct From The Site</font></p><p><font size="2">3. Will Allow People To Pay By Credit Card From The Site</font></p><p><font size="2">Fat Can Write All The Product Descriptions Of The Products He Will Sell, And He Can Take All The Photos, And Set All The Prices, And Ship All The Orders, But He Doesn't Know Where To Start To Develop The Actual Site.</font></p><p><font size="2">Also, Does He Have To Buy A Server?</font></p><p><font size="2">So....</font></p><p><font size="2">Any Easy Software For A Non-Geek?</font></p><p><font size="2">What Kind Of Server?</font></p><p><font size="2">What Else Would Be Needed?</font></p><p><font size="2">Thanks In Advance To Anyone Who Can Steer Fat In The Right Direction!</font></p><p><font size="2"></font></p><p><font size="2"></font></p>

I usually just use paypal to do it.</p><p> </p><p>You don't need to buy a server, especially with the low level of traffic you expect in the beginning. You can get a shared hosting account with a provider. Some of which have their own software already set so you can set up the store by just clicking a few things, and may have their own credit card processor too. </p>

Have someone design the site for you unless you can design a site yourself. Otherwise I don't think you'll do that well using a site you designed yourself in frontpage (but of course it is possible).
For anything to do with credit card, any ordering stuff, do through either a site like yahoo or a site like paypal. With yahoo, they do all the legwork and it's probably your best option. Using paypal takes care of the payment part, but you still have to sell your products through your site and that requires some programming, which you will need a trusted person to do for you. Do not handle any CC info, and even mailing info, through your site unless you really know what you're doing.

Namo Web editor is an easy to use web design software, that's WYSIWYG... I use it to design my pages quick, then pop in code afterwards... Also a built in FTP uploader. www.namo.com for a trial
