Went to his show at the Tampa Improv tonight, anyone else seen him live? He was funny as shit, but he seemed a little detatched from his act. No real emotion, sat in a chair half the time twirling around, and squirming like a little girl, while giggling under his breath. He kept taking out his pack of cigarettes as if he was about to light one up, then put them away. At the end he told his last joke, and then just ran offstage, and out the door. Man he was either on something, or has the worst nicotine habit I've ever seen. Still funny as shit though. Louis Katz opened up for him, he was just as good.

That's odd, perhaps he had some personal issues but couldn't break his commitment to the club.

Maybe, but all 5 shows sold out, so he added another midnight show... Maybe just burnt out.

Back in 1994, my friend and I went to the Boston Comedy Club on a Tuesday or some thing. He made fun of us because we wore glasses and he called us librarians.

At one point he said soccer was gay, some broad in the audience said "you try it" and he called her a cunt. Then he called a group of women dumb whores. hehe

I have seen Dave Attell twice in the past year.ÿ It's a toss-up what you get with him on certain nights.ÿ The first time I saw him it was the earlier show, so he was a little more sober (and my opinion funnier) but the crowd sucked badly....

The second time I saw him I went to the late show,ÿ the crowd was so drunk that they kept interrupting him, and he was blasted so he didn't seem to care and acted like how you described in the original post. I still think he and Bob Saget have been the two funniest stand-ups I've ever seen in person.ÿÿ

Insomniac was a great show, that and Travel Sick were a great combo.
I've seen Attell and Norton at the Borgata. He killed.. After the show we were habging out in the lobby and saw him and he was sauced. I agree with Chainsaw, if it was a late show and he was already 3 sheets to the wind, he might've seemed a little detached.

My girlfriend saw him at Comedy Cellar the other night and said the same thing. Maybe he's stressed over the performance of the Gong Show? Who the fuck knows. But Dave Attell is funny as hell. I just watched the 1995 Young Comedians HBO show and he was funny as hell back then too.

Sagat was awful when I saw him... and then his HBO special was awful - and from what I heard his Unmasked was slightly less than good - which is as bad as a Ron Bennington production could be...
I have never seen anyone who made me crack up more than Little Jimmy does live...

Attell's one of my all time favs! I got his Comedy Cent. specials, Insomniac dvds and Skanks for the Memories CD always ready to play :laugh:

I saw Sagat at the Virus tour. He was OK but the Full House gags and the shock of him doing a dirty act wears pretty thin quickly.
The best I've seen Live are:
Jimmy Norton
Dave Attell
Bob Kelly
Rich Vos
Brian Regan
Patrice Oneal
Bill Burr (at the Camden Virus show where he ripped apart Philly)
Chris Rock

That's a 'go to' comedy CD for me. Also Jimmy's Yellow Discipline.
Attell's "You're Mouth's Not Pregnant" is a great DVD.

I picked it up at his show, it's a DVD of his standup.. It's probably available on his website (I can't access it from here :wallbash:)
Just do a search for "Hey, Your Mouth's Not Pregnant!"

I would really love to see Patrice. Louis CK would also be on my list of comics I need to see live. I saw Vos' recent comedy central show and wasn't all that impressed. Bobby Kelly's on the other hand was really funny.

I saw him at the Tower Theater a few years ago and he killed.
Insomniac was a great show, that and Travel Sick were a great combo.
I used to come home all banged up and pop in my Insomniac DVDs.

I'm gonna try to see Louis CK next time he's in town...
Vos is great with a crowd, I think that's the best way to see him. His comedy Central was good, but he's better live in a club.
