I just downloaded it and am running it. It's different, I hope I can get used to it but for some reason it's making me dizzy.

Firefox rules. The tabs were reason enough to switch from IE6, but the extensions keep me from going back. Flashblock is my favorite (makes you click on a flash applet before they'll run. saves tons of resources when you have ~100 tabs going like i usually do...) and thanks to session restore, browser crashes (very rare) don't bother me at all. Oh, and Colorful Tabs is also a nice one.

For some reason the scroll down button on my laptop doesn't work with Firefox and when I hit the 'latest post' button on a thread it only takes me to the last page as opposed to the newest post....I still like it though.

I hear too many people complaining about Firefox "not working" with various sites, so until it's a browser that can universally browse, fuck it.

I've used firefox for a few years and the only sites that I have problems are ones that use activex. You can download an extension so they will work, but I dont want that crap running on my computer (activex not the extension, extensions rocks).

put these commands in the browser line:

about: A simple prompt without any parameter will display the Mozilla “about” information. Since it’s accessible from the top menus as well, it’s not quite a hidden feature.

about:buildconfig Obviously, it will show the build platform configuration and parameters

about:cache Will display info and statistics regarding your disk’s cache, including the name of your cache’s directory and a list of the entries you can find there. By default, Firefox doesn’t allow you to view the cached webpages, so this can be an useful option.

about:config Oh look, many many info. Indeed, it’s the most complex and meaningful of them all. Careful on what you plan to change here, your browser won’t run properly after if you play with the wrong things.

about:plugins Of course, what is Firefox without it’s powerful extensions? This option will display detailed information about all the plugins installed for Mozilla Firefox.

about:credits It’s time to give the credit to whoever deserves it. There’s an alphabetically sorted list of all the people that gave their contribution to the development of Firefox.

about:Mozilla This is a weird thing. It will display the so-called “Book of Mozilla”. Something similar was present in Netscape too. There’s actually no real book although the quotations might give you that impression.

http://www.our-picks.com/archives/2007/01/18/the-7-hidden-pages-within-your-firefox-browser/

If you get a chance, play with the "ClearForest Gnosis" addon. You can click a button and the key words on the page will be hilighted for context and pop-overs will let you search for more information about these highlighted items.

It makes reading articles on the web easier and faster.

I finally decided to give it another try. I like it, but (as in the past) there are little things that bug me. Maybe someone knows some fixes. One thing is, when I'm on RonFez.net, and I hit the arrow that is supposed to take you to the most recent post in a thread, it only takes me to the last page, not the last post.

Another annoying thing is, when I put a website icon on my desktop, it shows the Mozzilla icon, instead of the website icon. Anyone know how to fix these two issues, or should I just live with it?

I'm noticing a potential problem. When I used IE, I'd run Sybot Search & Destroy on occasion. I usually would end up with 2 or 3 things that needed to be deleated. Since I've been using Mozilla/Firefox, I get 10-20 hits. This happens after running Spybot 2 or 3 times a day.

What's up with that?

I have both browsers, but only on rare occasions use the Firefox. I much prefer IE and have no issues. I use version 6.0 I know there is the newer versions, but everyone I know that uses it has problems. I do not need no stinking tabs!

I thought Mozilla was supposed to be the miracle "safe browser". I'm getting closer to giving up on it again. I don't see much of anything that it offers over IE7, and IE7 lets me go to the last post. Don't believe the Mozilla bullshit hype!

When I first switched I was a little hesitent because FF takes some time starting up n stuff. I thought it was going to be slower than IE on my computer. But I got used to certain things and it definately has its advantages over IE. I have a lot more control over my browsing experience. For example, I use NoScript to block out Flash and Javascript on all unapproved pages (no more tricked out myspaces or "I'm looking at gay porno!" (i'm not!!!!!)).
It has a couple of downsides. It leaks memory like hell. It's not a problem unless I'm stalking someone by looking through their photo albums. Then everything really starts to slow down and I'll check and see that FF is using 50mb of ram and 50mb of the page file. It's pretty easy to fix as long as you can sacrifice all your open tabs by restarting the browser.
The other problem I experience are crashes. This pretty much happens when I go to a page with a windows media file on it. It'll try to play it (I dont really have any current version of WMP installed) and it'll crash the browser. It's not really a problem because I don't often come across pages that cause this (I wish NoScript took care of thos tho)
It's much easier for your IE to get fucked up and your computer to get fucked up through IE than with FF. FF is NOT "built into" the OS like IE is so it's kind of in a plastic bubble keeping everything else safe. Like I said above, use something like NoScript to make browsing safer. This wasn't really possible in IE because adding and removing pages from your "safe zone" was tedious and didn't actually protect you from much.
thank you and good night

So far so good. I don't seem to be having any of the problems I had in the past, and I'm really liking it. So...
What plug in/add on suggestions do you people have? I have some of the basics already.
In case you ask, I have Windows.

I could not live without the Web Developer extension. It makes fixing my webpages so much easier.
I also use the Google toolbar. Makes it easier to search than the little box in the upper right.
And if you do any scripting, you probably want Firebug as well.

foxmarks bookmarks synchronizer - allows you to set up the same bookmarks on multiple pc's (home and work, etc.)
gmail skins - lets you customize gmail's appearance
google notebook - great for taking notes
statusbar clock - if you keep your taskbar minimized (what kind of animal wouldn't?) the day and date can be displayed on your statusbar. it's really a minor thing, but i love it.
