<p>There's already a thread for Sherwin Sleeves' amazing internet radio show, but I thought I'd start one devoted to his awesome songs for the Ron &amp; Fez Show.&nbsp; You can download all of his songs so far from our file library.</p><p><font size="2"><a href="http://www.ronfez.net/displaymedia.cfm/id/3081">'Comet McDonald' - Here is the Sleeves song Comet McDonald about the sad departure of East Side Dave</a></font></p><p><font size="2"><a href="http://www.ronfez.net/displaymedia.cfm/id/3071">'Earl Douglas Way' - Here is Sleeves' song about the seemingly imaginary ailments that Earl suffers from.</a></font></p><p><font size="2"><a href="http://www.ronfez.net/displaymedia.cfm/id/3070">'Fez of the Flies' - Here is Sleeves' song about Fez's participation in the Homeless Shopping Spree</a></font></p><p><font size="2"><a href="http://www.ronfez.net/displaymedia.cfm/id/3069">'It Takes a Rube' - Fez took Ron, Earl &amp; Dave out to dinner and overtipped their elderly, compulsive gambling waiter. This is Sleeve's song from the point of view of the waiter</a></font></p><p><font size="2"><a href="http://www.ronfez.net/displaymedia.cfm/id/3068">'I Christmas Thee' - Sleeves' Christmas song for the Ron &amp; Fez Show</a></font></p>

I get a lot of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds when I listen to Sleeves' stuff. Not as much as the sound, but the subject matter and how he writes his lyrics. Very, very cool.

Sleeves, your songs approach Tom Waits-level genius. I can't believe you're not signed or playing shows or something. I want to get a voice like that, but I've quit smoking and I'm from Texas.

I love the Rocka-Hula-Luau song, and I can't get that part out of my head where they have Ron saying "Rocka. Hula. Luau." and then singing "We're going bowling tonight!"

It's really a matter of perspective...for me it's about the Muppet Show...but Dave was a Muppet Baby fan...so we have to respect his lousy preference. :)

That's lil Sleeves at the end yes! He still talks about the Z-man even though he doesn't know anything about him (he also is walking around the house saying N E W peas hode...he's almost 3...)

The song didn't get played. Either they didn't like it or it was bad timing cause Tommy Z was hit kind of hard by the posse and this song just kind of pushes the attack agenda.

hi AKA!

Dear doc - I don't know when "Peas Hode" (cd 2) will come out...I feel like it needs a couple "hits"...maybe 3...

I work it backwards from reality - I put out the CD after 3 or 4 songs become popular and have been distributed widely for free.

That's the key to raking it in.

There's this part in "Ron & Fez Powers Activate" that cracks me up every time. It's really a tiny little bit, but it's the lines: "I'm a very busy man. I work in a skyscraper." There's something about it -- the detail about the skyscraper is something that a very small child would think would be important to add. It's like saying "I'm a very wealthy man. I drive an expensive car".

Anyway, that's all I have to say, other than that "The Mick's Metaphor" and "Comet McDonald" are criminally overlooked.

Agreed. The Mick's Metaphor has been my favorite. Mighty Horse is always a good one, but there is something about "son of cock" that gets me evertime.

This also occurred to me. Given the strength of "Ruby", "Comet McDonald", "The Midnight Rider" and "The Mick's Metaphor", and "Intercourse Lifeboat" is it too much to hope for a full length East Side Dave rock opera?

Just need 2 more songs and 14 million dollars and Broadway will be MINE!

But I've been thinking about a small scale musical something or other...

I like the Dave angle...

and as far as the Ron Fez Powers...I improvised for about 10 minutes just saying goofy rich guy things "I have an expensive telephone. My electricity bill is higher than most people's rents..." I think I almost gagged just thru bad breathing when I said skyscraper...so there's a weird swallowed quality to it that makes it sound both proud and stupid.

With Plethora on guitar...and hopefully there will be a new version with Lawson on Bajeebee drums finished soon.

(and thanks to Robot Artist for sharing his art with us! It was really his Bajeebee image that got the old wheels turning on this one...)

And of course thanks to G-man!!

Please note: The spelling above of "Bajeebee" is as conceived and constructed by G-man himself. Thanks buddy!

I wanted to do a long hacking-thru-the-jungle King Kong adventure song but then had to condense it way down...but lyrics (and thanks!):

Oh my friends, amazing true
I have here for your pleasure
A live Monjambu
His jungle name’s Bajeebee, but he’ll answer to
Saphire or Fabreezey or Shabooty too
The shows about to start I’ll take that ticket from you

Down in the valley of the serpent of lies
Long before I found him I was certain
I lay the jungle bare with a machete tipped with fire
Burned the jungle down to the dirt and
Then Bajeebee came flying thru the vineland
Raised my crackers up that’s how I lured him

I got Bajeebee singing Alleluia Alleluia
I got Bajeebee counting 1 2 3

I got Bajeebee singing Alleluia Alleluia
I got Bajeebee doing abc

I saw Gmann last week, and called him out on naming Earl Bajeebee and he just put his head in his hands embarrassedly about it. As he's shaking his head, I added "but dude, you inspired a Sleeves song!" At which point, he picks his head up with a huge smile, proud of inspiring the genius that is Sherwin Sleeves.

I have been suddenly startling my girl with a sudden outburst of "WHY SO CHEAP? WHY SO GAY?"

Funny.

I took my boys to see The Dark Knight Saturday, and after handing out the last of the Twizzlers and Crunch bites, the next time my son reached over for another, I whispered (loudly) in his ear, "NO CAN-DY, TO DIS-PENSE"...

...it took him a while to get back into the movie after that.
