First they came for the smokers but I did not speak out because I was not a smoker...

Many apartment buildings in my city are non-smoking... As of January 1, 2007 the city as a whole has gone non-smoking.

I don't think it's a horrible thing to happen, maybe they just start having 'smokers' apartments?

It's obviously a tough situation for those people who are smokers... they probably feel like they are being squeezed out and are becomming leopars. If I were a landlord though, I'd want my place(s) to be non-smoking. Purely for resale purposes.

I smoke on my balcony but I try to be considerate of my neighbors and I said that if it was bothersome, particularly in warmer weather when windows are open, they should tell me.

But for the people who just hate the smell: do we ban cooking in apartments next? I know that when someone burns something that bothers me.

I don't smoke, never have. But once they are done with the smokers somebody is going to be next. I'm betting that it will be the drinkers and that is a group I am a part of.

"Anything not good for you is bad, hence, illegal. Alcohol, caffeine, contact sports, meat . .
Bad language, child play, gasoline, uneducational toys, and anything spicy. Abortion is also illegal. But, then again so is pregnancy, if you don't have a license."

To much tax revenue.

I dont were I stand on this isssue. as a former smoker I do understand that its a pain in the ass to have to go out everytime you want a smoke. In apartment buildings I think the only reason for banning cigs should be for fire saftery. If your in your own apt I doubt 2nd hand smoke is getting to other people in other apts. So if its not for fire saftey then they should be able to smoke, they pay the rent.

As for the smell, yes cig smoke does smell, but so does nasty people cooking their nasty food. Every apt building hallway smells like shit to me. There are so many different people living with so many different cultures and so many of those foods smell , just bad. People are way to snooty against smokers. Without smokers we would pay so much more in taxes then we do now.

Thats why I say, make weed legal and tax the shit out of it!!!
