<p>...in my town. Five Guys has finally arrived!</p><p><img src="http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y229/snowmaninva66/fiveguys.jpg" border="0" width="470" height="305" /></p><p>I've heard Ron & Fez talk about it for years, but I never actually went to one. I just had my first cheeseburger & fries tonight. Delicious!!! The best thing is, it's only a mile from my house and a few blocks from where I work.</p><p>On a side note... that building used to be a Captain D's for years. My first real job was there about 25 years ago.</p>

There are a couple of stores in Jersey.</p>

<p>Five Guys is a fast food place that serves real burgers. They don't have a real variety of burgers, just a bunch of different toppings and the choice of one or two patties. They used to have only a few restaurants around the DC area until a few years ago. I believe they started selling franchises, but I could be wrong. I've never been to any of the new 'franchise' locations, so I can't say if they are as good as the original ones, but man are the originals good. They are probably some of the best burgers I have ever had. And if you order fries they literally dump a bunch of them into your bag no matter which size you order.</p><p> </p><p>Congrats on getting some decent food out there in the boonies. </p>

<p>do these five guys have their own special sauce?</p><p>seriously: glad you're happy, it's the little things that count....</p>
<p>I went to one in Alexandria the first week I was here. Everyone I talked to RAVED about it. It was OK but I was kind of let down because everyone talked it up so much.</p><p> </p>

<p>They opened one up in north Rockville a couple months ago and YES the place is fantastic. it isn't easy anymore to get a fat burger and that is exactly what that have and the only thing they sell. The menu has basically three thigns on it - hamburger, hotdog, fries......and then a million toppings.</p><p>You forget what a good greasy fatburger tastes like these days with all the fake chemicals you get at any fast food rest. McDonalds doesn't even taste like food anymore.</p><p>I highly recommend any Five Guys. </p>

The one here is old news, now. I'm refering to the fact that Ron was happy that they're headed up there. He always talks about how good they are.

I ate at FR's a few times in the mid 90's. I thought it was terrible.

It sounds snobbish, but 5 Guys' burgers were a LOT better when it was more of a regional chain in the NoVA area. Now that they've spread out, the food seems a lot less impressive...still good, but now "OH MY GOD, THIS IS AWESOME"-good that it was before.

Five Guys: Well Done, Indeed (http://www.gothamist.com/2007/05/17/five_guys.php)
they're now in whitestone (http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=132-01+14th+Ave,+College+Point,+NY+11356&ie=UTF8&oe=UTF-8&t=k&om=1&ll=40.785416,-73.832266&spn=0.007344,0.014462&z=16&iwloc=addr), a few blocks behind the target mall ... soon to be in brooklyn heights and manhattan this summer
The meat is never frozen nor is it processed, and it's near impossible to go back to traditional fast food afterwards. A normal burger is two huge patties - the kids burger puts McDonald's Big Mac to shame - shame - shame...
The fries are from actual fresh spuds - they tell you on the board where they are from. A "small" fry is tough to finish - they just pile them into a brown paper bag.
I've been a big fan for year. One of the original 5 Guys use to also get their bread from a local, Alexandria bakery. It looks like they are being smart with their expansion.
And...it may cost a lot more than what people expect from fast food, but it is worth it.

I just ate at Five Guys (Dickson City, PA) for the first time tonight. The burger was great and the fries are fantastic. Holy crap do they give you a lot of fries.
Fudrucker's sucks.
If you're ever in Houston, Beck's Prime (http://www.becksprime.com/nav/default.asp?AdequateBrowser=Yes) makes really good burgers, and their fries are good too.
