If I was still in Yemen I could have gotten you the suite for a buck. Here in Bangkok I haven't seen jacked software yet - just DVDs and 4gig IPods for $70. And bitchin tribal tattoos, but that's more of a clearance rack thing than bootlegging. If you get your girlfriend's name on your lower back they'll throw in a free mullet and shoot a load of jizz on your back.

Ew! Did I just post in the new nerd forum? I gotta go bang six Bangkok whoers to make up for it.

I don't know if I can really help you. It's pretty hard finding such expensive programs online for free.

Hypothetically though, if I were trying to download something like that, which I'm not now nor in the future, I'd search for torrents. You know, some kind of torrent site where you can get it from and check it out for viruses and if it's clean you install it.

If I were looking I'd start there. I wouldn't do that because it's pirating and is illegal and to start with photo editing software could lead to things such as DVD's.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

I know it's not ideal, but it's completely leagal and legit, if you care about that kind of thing....

Adobe sells the educational version of its CS2 software (has photoshop, illustrator, acrobat, InDesign, and others I haven't used) for somewhere around $500. They are full versions that are fully upgradable to non-educational versions. I have been using these for school for about a year and they're great. You just have to have or know someone who has educational credentials (student ID will do it)

Next time you're in the market for a scanner or the like, make sure you check the software that comes with it. My Wacom tablet came with Photoshop Elements 3. Also, you can get older version of Elements fairly cheap.

I can't believe that no one mentioned The Gimp.

Sheepy mentioned the gimp... I tried it and it confuses me. I don't know enough about it to utilize it's full potential.

I am bumping this thread.

I am trying to find a copy of Microsoft Picture It! 2000. I had a copy of it but haven't been able to find it since I moved into my new place. I just reformatted my machine and would really like to get another copy of Picture It!

I know, there are newer programs to use, but I learned how to P-shop on Picture It and would like to keep it around if possible. Ebay, Amazon, etc. hasn't been much help.

If anybody has a copy or knows about sites that sell used/old software, I would appreciate the info. Thanks Buddays!

seem to recall... used to be... once was a time...
i think i read about a guy who used google and torrents to find the whole suite and a keygen to get a valid serial number. he even had high-end audio mixing software and autocad too, even though he had no idea how to use that stuff.
personally, i'd bet picassa works well.

Yeah, I remembered reading about him too. I even emailed him and asked about Picture It, but said he wasn't able to find it using his normal sources. Probably because the software is 7+ years old and 'normal people' aren't looking for it.

Thanks for reminding me though.

I've been finding more and more free programs that are nice, but I'm having a problem finding something for a friend. She wants to be able to cut backgrounds out like I've done for her in the past with my Adobe Elements, but none of the free ones (besides Gimp) seem to be able to do it. Gimp is way too hard to figure out. I could tell her how to do it with Elements, but it's not free unless you get it with some hardware.

Any ideas?

BTW... It has to be REALLY easy to understand for someone who doesn't know much about this stuff.

I liked GIMP when I was making banners for the winners pictures for this racing league I run with....

other than that, I use Paint Shop Pro 7....easiest to use IMO.'

To answer my own question, I think I found something good. It's free, and it's very close to what I've been using for years. Give it a shot.

If she's willing to pay 100 bucks, I can get CS2 through my student discount for 99 bucks.
