After watching the indy vs balt. and seeing how Adam Viniteri never misses in the payoffs I devided to see if he would make it into the hall of fame. I went to the site and surprised only 1 kicker. I looked around a little and was even more surprised that there wasnt many people in the hall. I looked up some players, some stats etc. I then came across the biggest joke I think I ever seen. Joe Namath's numbers and that he was even in the hall of fame.

What a fucking bum. Before anyone starts with he guranteed the super bowl vicotry, no he did not, there are so many stories about that. But forget that, look at his numbers.

13 nfl seasons only 2 seasons he had more TD then INT's

only 27,000 passing yards.

173 td's 220 int's

50.1% completion %

a winning % under .500: 66 Wins / 72 Losses / 3 Ties / Winning %: 47%

As a person who hates the Jets more then any team in football history I will say this with 100% honesty. HOW THE FUCK IS HE IN THE HALL OF FAME???? And why did he win the SB MVP? Snell should have.

Snell 121 yards and 1 TD

Namath 17/26 206 yards 0 TD.

Namath is living the life of a lie that was given to him, he sure doesnt have the #'s to deserve all the praise he gets.

by the way I think Viniteri will go to the hall for the simple fact he won 3 super bowls all 3 were decided by his foot. He has 2, 5 fg games (record) He is the all time leading playoff kicker and has great regualr season #'s.

This is from wikipedia but I have read many many similar about the "gurantee"

By far, his most controversial moment was the long multimedia event reported above under Pro Football Career when his words made headlines across the country and were discussed wildly on talk and sports programs preceding the January 1969 game, now called Super Bowl III. Three days before the game, Namath responded to a heckler with the now-famous line: "The Jets will win on Sunday, I guarantee it." which sparked the media feeding frenzy. (It is noted, however, in at least one Namath biography that Namath's guarantee, while being made before the game, did not get widespread press until after the Jets won Super Bowl III.)

Some would argue that the term 'Super Bowl' came about as he aptly made the AFL's case on the field that day. Shortly afterwards, his fame assured

He led his team to the most important win in football history.

Boondock's right. By beating the mighty Baltimore Colts (and doing it so convincingly) the Jets put the AFL on the map and forced the NFL and the rest of the football world to take them seriously. They were 18 point underdogs, for Christ's sake!

The following year when Kansas City drubbed the Vikings in Super Bowl IV the NFL was practically forced to merge with the upstart AFL.

Snacks, being an old Baltimore Colts fan, I'd love to agree with you. And ideally you're probably right. But Namath is one of the most famous football players of all time, and he is the face of the most famous game in the history of the sport. You have to put him in the fall of fame. Or else change the name of the PFHOF to the hall of really good statistics. But yeah, it has always annoyed me that he is often spoken in the same breath as Johnny Unitas and Roger Staubach.

It could be more who he played for, when he played and the timing of the win. It sure as hell wasnt for his play or his stats.

I think my hate for the J E T S - shit - shit - shit makes it so hard to see a guy with those #'s in the same breathe as Montana, Unitis etc.
