View Full Version : Comedies that are funnier a few years later

Have you ever had the experience of watching a movie that you don't find particularly hilarious, but then you rewatch it years later, give it another chance, and all of the sudden it's hysterical?

For me, Innerspace is one of those movies. I find myself quoting lines from it, even though I don't think anybody else will necessarily get them because they're humorous enough to me anyways. For me, it's also about the character actors - the triple threat of Victor Scrimshaw, Mr. Igoe and Robert Picardo's The Cowboy are I think some of the most underrated comedic villains.

I should totally have that made into a sigpic.

Zoolander was that to me.

Kids in the Hall was that for me, big time.

I never got it at first, but a couple years ago when they used to replay it on Comedy Central ad nauseum, I started watching again and it was hysterical.

I was too young to appreciate Real Genius, but the older I got, the more quotable lines I got out of that movie...Val Kilmer was a damn good comedic actor between that movie and Top Secret!

and Martin Short is too underappreciated and too under-utilized.. I'm always laughing whenever he's on tv/movies etc. I think he's funnier than any of his contemporaries like Steve Martin, Tom Hanks, et. al.

pootie tang- watched it on dvd cus a friend of mine bought it for my brother as a joke and, going in in the wrong mindset i didnt get it, later coming back to it and understanding how absurd it would be i thought it was hilarious.

Also, "The Freshman" with Matthew Broderick. I think the highlight of the film for me is when the German guy sings, without warning and for no apparent reason, "My heart swims in blood" in German.

Office Space.

I saw it in college and didn't like it much. It wasn't until I had worked in an office, that I really got the movie. So much of it is crap you experience working corporate America. I still quote it all the time.
