Hey whats up. I was just wondering what audio production/editing programs you guys use, if there are many on here that even do any of that stuff. Just now getting into it, so im curious as to what programs are the best and inexpensive. I know about pro tools but a little pricey so yeah. any feedback would be cool. peace.

Do you want to do hard disk recording? Midi sequencing? I use Emagic Logic and Sonar for both hard disk recording and sequencing.

My question would be...what do you want to be able to do?

There are some good inexpensive HD recording apps out there.

Pro Tools has a free version...I've heard it's pretty good, but I've never used it.

Audacity is a good free recorder and multitracker.

I use Adobe Audition and Sound Forge. Sound Forge just to record and cut stuff up and Audition to lay down tracks and control levels and stuff.

What are you interested in doing?

Sonic Foundry (The guys who made Soundforge) also made a program called Acid before they were bought by Sony. This program is pretty cool for the beginner, although a lot of people hate it. I've always had fun using it to take various homemade .wav's and mutating them incestuously and then tracking them together to make unfinished nightmare ambient soundscapes of horrific quality and dubious vision.

I have Adobe Audition but it's a little more manly than neccessary for my pansy editing.

I use Music Creator 3 to create music. Kind of a pain in the ass to learn to use but once you figure it out its great and only cost like $30 or $40 at best buy.

I also use Aucustica MP3 Audio Mixer that works great for editing sounds and recording sounds. Its extremely easy to use and you can get a free trial on their website. When you buy i think its aroun $25.

I find myself using Audacity for most stuff.
