..said bullshit four times in a row at the top of tonight's Daily Show. Can they do that on Comedy Central at 11:00?

Ever see the "shit" episode of South Park? That aired at 10.

They could do that on Comedy Central at 3 in the afternoon, it's cable.

Technically i think they can say anything they want on cable. But are afraid of the ADVERTISERS not too. I could be wrong.

Cable TV can technically do whatever they want. The decision to bleep out curses is their choice, so as to stay friendly with sponsors. Remember when South Park said "shit" 162 times?

Technically they can do that on Comedy Central at anytime. It's cable not over the air t.v. Southpark said shit something like 150+ times in one episode.

EDIT: Shit! Five people gave the same answer and I was Johnny-Come-Lately

Well it is cable.

I will never be able to get my head round the FCC and how they regulate TV & Radio in the US. It's just weird. Although not half as weird as the TV Licence. I'll give you that.

He said it again plus fuck in the last few minutes but they bleeped those. Wierd.

I didn't know that about them being able to do what they want, are you sure that on basic cable there are no restrictions? I think just pay-for cable (HBO, Showtime) can do whatever they want.

There aren't any restrictions on basic cable as of yet, but the FCC has been talking about bringing down the hammer for a while, now. It's kind of day to day at this point.

Another example - AMC has shown Appocolypse Now unedited on Memorial Day. (or was it Veteran's Day?)

The FCC is restricted to VHF/UHF for TV and AM/FM for radio. Cable, even basic cable does not fall under their domain in any way whatsoever.

EDIT:

And now I'm too slow.

Hell with this, I'm going to bed.

It was probably just "fakon", like they serve in jail. Fakon is even better than the sausish that they serve.

I hope those pricks aren't successful in overstepping their bounds and get their grubby, fear mongering hands all over cable.

This has actually been quite the filthy episode. If I remember right, last night's episode had a few bleeped curses as well. Perhaps their New Year's Resolutions included being potty mouths. Naughty, naughty potty mouths.
