Hmm..I might have to break down and finaly get a cell phone. But $600 including a 2 year contract is pretty steep. Any word on the battery life?

$600/$500 (8GB/4GB) is a lot, but the price should drop (or capacity rise) soon enough. I just got my phone so I not planning on switching anytime soon. It looks like it's just Cingular (which is good for me since they are great in my area, but some parts of the country it will suck)

It's a very thin device so I can't imagine the battery lasts very long if you use it but they claim 5 hours if you use it for Video or Phone, 16 hours for music.

Looks cool, but zero interest. I have an ipod, I have a cell phone, I'm not that big a tech geek I need a combination of both.

The demonstration of it was WAY cool.

How long before MicroShit tries to copy this too?

They've failed miserably at everything else they've tried to steal from Apple, from their operating systems to the Zune.

It's another gadget that has existed for years, but Apple makes one and takes credit for inventing the entire idea... and charges $600 for it.

Looks really cool, but within a day I would love to throw it across the fucking room; kind of like my iPod.............hhhmmmmm.

I think apple is late to the party. There are so many phones that do what this phone does. The only thing this phone has over some others is the look. Apple does come out with some cool modern looks and the other is 8gb for storage. At $500-600 they are nuts.

My current phone has 2 mp camera, internet access, 2gb mps player, video records up to 2 hours of camcorder quaqlity video. It doest have the none button - buttons. but the t-mobile MDA has those buttons.

Is it me or do Apple owners think they are above everyone? Elitist (sp)

That thing looks like the bastard child of a PSP and Nintendo DS.

And it's also going to suffer from PSP syndrome: The screen is so big, beautiful and exposed that people are going to treat it so delicately to the point where they will be hesitant to even take it outside. How is that screen going to withstand all the wear and tear typical cell phones go through? Plus that thing looks like it would be incredibly difficult to use while driving. Imagine some dumbass try to dial his or her iPhone while driving except they can't even feel around for keys since there are none they'll have to actually looks at the thing while dialing.

I think it's pretty cool. If Verizon had it, I'd seriously consider getting one.

Shouldnt this be in the Geek thread?

Id love to see a demo of how the clock thing works. Ive seen everything else up till then. My only problem is knowing how slooooow Cingular's net service is, I cannot possibly imagine it being as fast as it seems in the demo to pull up maps and get directions and shit. It takes me like 2 minutes to load the net homepage on my cingular phone. I bet those demo's are not using any true cell service. Does anyone agree?

I was actually ordering a Blackberry Pearly for Cingular through my discount at work and I saw this on their website.

They guy I was talking to said that he didnt think they'd advertise it yet because it wouldnt be available until June or so.

I read that this is Apple's 2nd try at a cellphone and that the last one ( couldnt find details ) didnt do so well.

I agree w/ whoever said you dont need an iPod and cellphone combined.

Overkill

I bought a Treo 650 about 4 months ago. I love it, it works great but even it is more than necessary.

What ever happened to the simple days when a phone was to make calls? If you were 'on top of it' you'd even have one in your car.

Yeah I got the Blackberry and for the most part I wont use many of the options.

I needed a new phone, it was small enough ( and not a flip phone which I hate ) and I got a good deal.

I'll just be using it as a phone and place for contacts at this point.

I'm getting into real estate and at the time I start doing that I should be able to use a lot more features.
