bacon egg & cheese sandwiches [Archive]

my friend just got back from atlantic city and had to explain to the waitors at a place called Animations (i think thats the name) how to make a bacon, egg & cheese sandwich. it wasn't on the menu and they looked at him really confused when he ordered. what the fuck is that about? does anyone know this place and/or can you explain this insanity?  just another reason to hate jersey, jesus christ.

It's in Bally's. I ate there once. ONCE.  And the only reason I did was because I had a comp.  We waited on a twenty-five minute line to get in.  I figure:  "Hey, this place must be good if it's so popular."  Only to find out once we got in that only about a third of the tables were open because they didn't have enough servers to cover the whole place.  Service was sloooooow and the food was really shitty diner food.  I, and your friend, both made a horrible choice.  But, live and learn.  There are some decent places in AC.  Several upscale places in Borgata, Tropicana, Ceasars, Taj Majal and Showboat.  Stay away from Bally's, though.

My cousin is from Chicago, and she actually buys Taylor ham/pork roll when she's out here and ships it home since they don't sell it in IL.  Odd though. You'd think of all places, Chicago would have every type of fatty, salty meat product known to man.

I grew up calling Pork Roll "Taylor Ham" so it's easy for me to forget that Pork Roll is indeed the common name for it.  The stuff rules and I feel extremely sorry for the rest of the country for not knowing what this amazing breakfast meat is.  You all know my love of bacon?  Well let me just tell you that Taylor Ham is the ONLY breakfast meat I know of that challenges that love, it's that good.And if someone offered me "Fried Bologna" I'd punch them in the fucking throat.  I wouldn't even know what the fuck they were talking about.  Fried Bologna?  Why, just because pork roll is a flat circle of meat?  I've seen turkey, salami and hams come in circular, flat form too.  So if I order "Fried Turkey" will they know what that is?  Of course not, but it makes as much sense as "Fried Bologna."Makes me mad enough to spit.

I just ate the fatest fatboy SNACK ever. with all this talk about bacon, egg and cheese I decided to go get one. I went to Burger king and had one and also ordered a enormmous or whatever its called. Its bacon, sausage, eagg and cheese on a long roll. My god this thing is so big and way too much for breakfest.

I was in NJ two months ago on business and I went to a deli for breakfast.  Decided to take Moe up on his advice and have Taylor Ham and Egg on a roll and it was one of the best breakfast sandwiches that I have ever eaten.I ordered a sausage, egg and cheese this morning on an onion roll this morning and ended up throwing 3/4 of it away.So disappointing.

The best breakfast sandwich I ever had is a cheese X-dose..It has 2 eggs, beacon, lettuce tomato, 2 slices of Taylor ham on a hamburger...it was great

Pork Roll/Taylor ham on a bagel - especially one from a bagel store and/or homemade - there is no comparison. Slice of mozzarella, little ketchup (or even hot sauce) and you're good to go.

I use to sell Taylor pork rolls and had no idea what a Taylor ham was. :)It's funny, people always think the food they grew up with is "the best". Having lived in a few places now I can see that you have to take the strengths of a given area's food and avoid its weaknesses. Now that I live in LA I would kill for a sausage egg and cheese sub from Jim's Deli in Hempstead or chicken parm from Danny's Pizza in Queens. At the same time if I moved back to NY I would miss the sushi, mexican food and plethora of delicious burger joints the west coast has. Meanwhile in Boston I've got Santarpios pizza and the El Camino in Leominster. Its just about trying new things that will maximize your culinary experience wherever you are. Russo's diner in Hoboken used to serve the best double-egg and sausage on ahero roll i ever tasted. They would leave a bunch of the yolk soft so when you bit the yolk mixed with the ketchup and a little of the sausage juice... deelishsometimes you had to slurp the sides of the sandwich to catch all the juices. it made you feel like you were slurping,,,well,,,the sides of a sandwich - ha

just caught up with this post... first, you can order off the menu if there are similar items on it.  i mean, if they have the ingredients laying around, it doesn't take a genious to put them together.  he said he ordered it 2x and both times, they took up half of the page writing it all down.  also... he DID end up getting BE&C on a bagel, both times, and he said it was HUGE.  so that's a plus to not knowing wtf it is in the first place.
