If Plaxico was 3 inches shorter they would have been kicking a field goal. But yeah, the defense sucked donkey balls on that last drive. Gilbride sucks donkey balls too, all the way back to when he coached the Chargers.

what they should do is keep Coughlin for next season, then shitcan him with 5 games left like they did to Fassel........then make a hard push for Bill Cowher.

I'm a Steeler fan and I wish Cowher was coming back but he's not. I also think that he would be perfect for the Giants. The article makes a good point about the Mara and Rooney families going way back.

Mike and the Mad Dog just had Co Owner John Mara on. He said that Coughlin will have to get a new staff, and that Giants have to have a big year in order for Coughlin to come back. He said the 2 main things that the Giants have to fix is... Eli has to play better, and they have to fix the D, secondary specifically. Also he said that he loves Shockey and wishes he had 10 more guys like him on the team. He works harder than everyone on the team.

Coughlin was not the problem last year. Eli was inept and the receivers underperformed. I can only think of a couple of times when Coughlin screwed up. Eli fucked up in almost every game. He really needs to take more control of the offense. He doesn't seem like he is having fun. I put the blame on Eli for last year. He is not a "field general" like Brady or Peyton but not many QB's are.

Well I AM a Giants fan, in fact that is my 'main' team, the one I am most passionate about. Of course the coaches take the blame. (Hi Brett!)

The top priority to me is getting a 'quarterback' coach, either a new assistant or head coach that will truly work with Eli and take control of his development.

I think he has lacked that with Coughlin...I don't think we can really evaluate him until that happens to see if he just didn't have the coaching and he improves dramatically or if he really will just never get 'there'. In that case we're screwed and need to find a new QB but it needs to happen.

Then next comes the secondary, team discipline, etc., etc.

Here is the main problem with ELI... Well a couple. One, the coaching is terrible. The play calling is so bad that he is never allowed to get into any groove what so ever. They have no game plan. You have to go with what works. do something to set another. Either run to set up the pass or pass to set up run. The coaches last year were a fucking Clusterfuck, and Eli being a Young QB, had no idea what he was doing next. 2, He has to stop throwing off his back foot. And three... His top receivers Like Plax and Shockey need to work with him more on timing and shit. Harrison Peyton and Wayne work all year together. They work so much together that they have their timing down as perfect as it can be. Peyton just looks at them and they know what to do. Shockey and Plax either need to make sure Eli is actually in Miami with them working out... Or they are in NY with him. Its timing with them. Eli Needs consistent play calling, and needs to develop that timing he needs with his weapons. Like Ronnie said. This team gets knocked but it has some major major talent. All it needs is to get some players on D and some how fix Eli. Eli has a ton of talent. If that Happends... Then this team can be a contender for years to come, because, they are very young. Some things Eli has to fix himself, and some things Eli needs help in.

now listen to me completely before you call me nuts

but

i think that losing tiki will help the giants and eli

why or how do you ask ??

easy by not having tiki as the failsafe it will force the giants to develop a whole new gameplan, one that will use jacobs in a larry johnson type role, hopefully free agency or the draft will yield us a new tiki/brian westbrook type back for change of pace and 3rd downs

also by not having tiki he'll have to rely more on plax and shockey, and getting toomer back will also help, he was eli's main go to guy in need situationslike 3rd down last year(2005)

but yes he needs to be more of a leader and maybe with tiki gone he'll feel like its more his than tiki's, also needs to be better at making decisions which you'd think he wouldnt have a problem with since he grew up with a dad and brother who played the position, and has numerous coaches growing up who should have showed him something

yet he plays the position like any of us would with no experience ever playing, so what qb gurus are out there who can help eli ?? weiss would have been great but he isnt coming here at least for a year if he ever does
