My hot water heater blew up in December and alot of my shit got wrecked.

The insurance company sent over some guys ang they bagged a bunch of shit (which gathered mold) and tore out some walls.

I, being the handyman that I am, decided that we would take the materials payout and the labour payout, bunch it all together and re-design our basement.

Well I'm doing my bathroom, I ripped out the old vanity and bathtub and replaced it with a walk-in shower.

Having wasted everyones time saying that, I'll get right to the point...

I fucking hate renovations so much!

I finished drywall and am mudding and sanding...mudding and sanding... 2 - 3 times a day.

I'll be ready for tile tomorrow but goddamn I hate renovations! why does anyone get themselves into this shit?

It's messy, time consuming and at times Frustrating!

One question, Colin.....how much money did you save doing all the work????????? I did all my renovations in my house and saved a shit looad of money!!!

It's all about the money,.....especially when you have kids!!!

By the time I'm done I'll save about $2,300 dollars in labour costs (major damage in walls and floor coverings). The bigger sell for my wife was being able to tear down a wall here, add one there and finish with a house that we love.

But yeah, the dollar is the bottom line.

I do love doing renovations, would probably be a carpenter if residential carpenters made more jack but when the basement is full of shit and everything is cluttered and everything needs to be moved and covered ten times it gets annoying. Oh, and sanding that fucking drywall mud on a ceiling is a pain in my ass! I hate that shit falling in my face.

I just needed to vent, now I'm better

I haven't seen a snowy Christmas in 8 years. In total I may see 3 weeks of snow every year...

That means no sled dogs, I've tried putting rollerblade wheels on the sled but those fuckers run so fast it just burns the bearings out

Well FezPaul, in all reality in order to keep sled dogs you really have to have quite a bit of money. For all the equipment and space for the dogs and shit.

I was just joshin' ya....

Here in town they have a by-law that you are only allowed 2 "pet" dogs per household, so just outside the city limits is a kennel area where there are tons of dogs all in these little compounds...like doggy jail really... These guys were heading out from there...like doggy parole!

Sorry for the hijack ramrod

Time to take back the thread...

I finished mudding and sanding my walls in my bathroom the other day. Tiled the walls around the shower and the ceiling above it. Today I started to tile my floor at 7:00pm and my tile saw blade dulled out with 3 fucking tiles left. Now I need to wait until the morning to go to Home Depot and buy a new blade.... 3 tiles!

I will say, the only thing I'm prouder of doing than this bathroom renovation is making my kids.

3 tiles tomorrow morning and some grout at about 11:00 tomorrow night and I'll be ready to prime and paint the walls.

Oh yeah Reeshy, I got the final numbers back from insurance and they are giving me $2,300.00 for labour and $4,400.00 for materials so I'll be getting a sweet ass cheque for $6,700.00 to do this prick with... Plus money for damaged personal items (video camera, hockey equipment etc...).

Hopefully I'll have it done by next Christmas!!!!!!
