Baling from a Party

I was at a New Years Eve party at my cousins house in Patchogue and I was not having the greatest time.&nbsp; Cousins and sisters bitching about their family and love life etc.&nbsp; I wanted to get out of there.&nbsp; I had aunts and uncles and kids there too.&nbsp; I'm liked by everyone, but a few aunts ask probing, embarresing questions about my family life, wife and job and stuff.&nbsp; I coulndt wait to leave.&nbsp; I was hoping to be out of there at 11:30, but my cousin decides to serve dinner after 10:45!&nbsp; I eat a little and then get it in my head that I am going to bale out.&nbsp; I tell my sister and she begs me to stay&gt;&nbsp; Midnight is only 45 mins away, etc.&nbsp; Guilt.<br />I head by the room with the coats (no one shit on the coats) and I &quot;fake&quot; that Im needing to make a cell call and I grab my coat and head to the door and walk out, pretending I need to make this cell call.&nbsp; As soon as I get outside, and walking near my car, I hop in and start the car,&nbsp; After glancing at my cousins house, I decide I will drive away without saying bye or anything else.&nbsp; Did anyone else bale tonite?&nbsp;&nbsp; How do YOU do it?

I told several people I was going to there place and never showed or returned calls after 9. So I guess it was like a pre-bail

It sucks because when you are ignoring phone calls and receiving text messages asking where you are, you feel like a complete monster because (in my case anyway) you still care about these people.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>I promised a close friend of mine I would attend a party at one of his friend's home. I DID have every intention of going, but then yesterday rolled around and to be quite honest I had a huge headache and wasn't up for driving 45 minutes to then stay up the rest of the night. When the calls and messages started rolling in it really made me feel incredibly guilty.</p>

I dont know if I am partied out or whatever, but I have been to 4 parties in as many days.&nbsp; Only Friday did I have a good time and that one was for a friend of the sister of a freind and it was like an unexpected last-minute invite party, and even though I didnt know the guy or 90% of the people there, I had a great time.&nbsp; Today was like a&nbsp;&quot;eat the left overs&quot; New Years Party (the food was actually very good too) but I am beat and so I baled this one too.

Quick set-up, most of my co-workers/friends go out every two weeks for happy hour which usually ends up lasting till the bar closes. A couple moths ago we all go out. I was sick the entire week but I decided to show anyway. Around 10:00 I decided I'm gonna leave and make the mistake of saying something. Then comes the shit about "not hanging out" and crazy shit about "babysitting" their drunk selves. So as I head for the door, three of them decide to leave too. None of them are in any condition to drive (all three female) but the sucker friend that I am, I can't leave three girls hanging outside the bar, so I wait for the next hour, sick, in 30 degree weather till they are ok to leave.

Next time I go out with everyone, I decide to bail at 9:30. I tell only one person, that I absolutely trust and deserved the "heads up" that I'm going home. I got at least a 20 minute head start before my phone explodes with calls and texts ("WTF?", "Where are you?", "Can't believe you left?", "You didn't say goodnight."). Ended up listening to all the bullshit for at least another week afterwards, but it was alot better than the last time.

I'm not sure if you are serious or not but that's what I do. You are probably not serious, but so what. Take your thoughts in a different direction. Incite action and create pro-action at the same time!
